from past couple of days, my Docomo 3G SIM is connecting to “IND Airtel | TATA DOCOMO” network causing the connectivity to unreliable and drops down many times. Has anyone faced similar issues ? Why is it being done ?

Because Tata Docomo has been acquired by Airtel. Network integration is in progress

For using data?? select Airtel 3G in manual network selection.. things will work fine.. may face calls issue.

but for consumers they are saying Docomo SIM works as is. No need to change to Airtel SIM.

@Mr.Bean As Airtel and Tata Docomo are going to merge in near future or Airtel fully acquiring Tata 4 million customers, Intra Circle Roaming has been agreed upon by Airtel for Tata Docomo GSM customers. So you can manually choose any one of them so as to get rid of auto-switch. Remember you won’t get charged for either calls/data on Airtel network. https://cdn1.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_smile.gif

Anyways, Tata offered me 1GB/day and unlimited calls for 14 days @Rs. 28 only so I did for fun and to test network speed. On Tata getting 2-3 Mbps which is same when I last used it in 2015 and if I select Airtel 10-12 Mbps on 3G on constant basis as Airtel network at my place is too good. Currently having offer of Rs. 349 for 90 days unlimited calls + 1GB/day on same number but as I am happy using Jio, won’t take it.

In settings there is option for network selection.. in there search for all available networks… connect to Airtel 3G. switch on data connectivity in roaming that’s it..

Can’t give step-by-step as settings vary phone to phone.

It is customer specific offer. Not available to all. You can check yours at *123# or visit recharge.tatadocomo.com and enter your number to see best offers. 349 normally gives 56 days but customer specific gives 60-90 days. My friend getting 84 days at same price.

@hackerboys No you wont get charged. I already tested it in roaming network. I was not charged for calls too on Airtel while roaming. I am from Chandigarh, Punjab and tested it on nearby Haryana network.

But punjab and haryana both states already have Docomo company and now they latched for airtel as their network but in Delhi case is different. Delhi didnt have Docomo , so if i latch to airtel in Delhi may be they can charge me for data as well as calls … What u say ?

I missed the part where you specifically asked for Delhi. U r right that Tata don’t have GSM services in Delhi and they never launched GSM there. (Thanks to delay in giving spectrum to them by DoT during UPA regime and then unearthing of 2G spectrum scam afterwards). I can’t say much but assuming the same, you won’t be able to use Roam like Home in Delhi with Airtel on Docomo sim. I used to have a friend in Delhi who has now shifted back here and he was only source for me. Before this Tata users mostly latched onto Voda/Idea network while roaming in Delhi. https://cdn3.desidime.com/assets/textile-editor/icon_lol.gif
