Jio BLOCKING VPN & PROXIES, is it curtailing NET NEUTRALITY???

Jio is said to be restricting the access to VPN & PROXIES which are used to access geographicallly restricted & banned websites (along with porn)

Although this isn’t coming from authorised communications as such neither JIO has CONFIRMED NOR REJECTED

Trai is yet issue statement regarding the same

Peoples using VPN or proxies are constrained by the above restrictions & are trying to get clarity on the issue
The right to browse & access information is under threat are being voiced by them
IS it violating NET NEUTRALITY or not??

Although most of the people using these may be using the VPN proxies for BANNED content like PORN/TORRENTS/DARK WEB etc that doesn’t mean everyone is using it for same

But there are genuine reasons to use proxies or VPN for lack of access to geographicallly RESTRICTED databases or due to privacy issues

Have any dimers facing the same issue?
Your reply would be appreciated
Thanking you in advance

It show you do not have enough knowledge about VPN and proxy. Many whistleblower, activist use it to mask/encrypt their communication. You can’t just banned it like China did.

Yes for a porn watching or consuming content via non remunarable( to creators) modes doesn’t set a good morale although subjective, don’t try to brush everything with same color, may be its your way of exploring things but it’s not meant for children or someone else

I believe all these are psy-ops as:

1. They know there is no such way to block stuff like that.
2. That’s the only place where they get revenues from in terms of traffic.

They are businessmen and they won’t ever kill their golden goose. Lol..

Yes you’re right, there is NO such way to COMPLETELY BLOCK but partial blocking is possible & which can’t be dicephered by non techno natives or techno illetrates

There are much more revenue in their content business as they can control the whole value chain

This bullcrap has been going on for a long time now. Recently they also had blocked Opera Mini which employs a proxy to enable server-side compression. Had to use a VPN to bypass. Its all about protecting Reliance’s media interests.

When I tried to get file to update my samsung tab OS, airtel which owns the hub has banned a lot of sites. I could not get the file to do the update. It seems many other ISP’s use this airtel hub so I could not get the file from primary or secondary sites.. Had to try more risky sites to get the file in the end.. Obviously just banned sites and stuff is not for the good of anything.
Looking at the site, I am not even sure why those sites were banned other than they stored files. Never seen them store anything like pron or any videos.. But I know some judges give blanket authorization to ban thousands of sites whos IP or name ends up on someones list. These guys dont care if some people have problems or what they ban. They publish big press releases on it like it was a huge win for them. Also how are they going to ban VPN’s? The entire process is encrypted. It will only work as long as people dont know how to bypass such nonsense.

Let me ask you this.. I am into retro games and such.. Since this is a group effort from people like me who get multi decade old stuff, dump its roms and stuff, get it working and put it out.. Do you think I can afford to get a server and such and put it up so others can download and enjoy it?

Also same goes for movies and music.. Companies wont put them up unless its profitable for them and they prefer you nto to watch or listen or use old stuff as then it affects their profits so it is right that they are losing revenue but not for the things they use as the reason..

The reason is, that we find many things useful that others have discarded and do not see a point in spending money on new age krap.. Although many have tried to increase copyright limits like michael jackson foundation who paid like a billion for the rights to the Beatles.. a 50 year old music.. The real copyrights on that ran out like 40 years ago but no one can use it because someone used money to force a law into existence that if they are making money off it, then the copyright is valid.. How nice.. So now we can use the same technique to patents and other things like drugs* Imagine if China started enforcing their patents on explosives..* Why not? It has continuously been used for the last 3000 years and creates the most profits of anything..

@alientechy22 Exactly my points bro! No doubt the content controlling has gone all time high through years. If these people get continuous support (both from people and feds) but no objections, then there shall exist nothing as “neutrality”. However, torrent users are not the ones taking up their revenues as they foul cry. The target is whole different than that.. “control” and they need some support for the same. No wonder why they are ready to splurge billions of dollars for them. They really suck, and they suck big time!

@alientechy22 For content creators, p2p works as the best way to distribute their contents (if you can go back to eMule times), Spotify came handy these days. You can get your own copyright if your content gets popular. But if you go ask these thugs about the same, the chiller they offer you may dishearten you more and then comes the advertising part, and at last they own your content and enjoy continuous profit. Do you really enjoy all those hyped/ advertised content from them? Many creative houses like Pixar decided to go on their own than coming under the umbrella of big suckers like Disney or Universal. They are mere dealers who owns almost every content now, and you know very well how much the creator gets out of it.

pixar? It was bought by jobs and started by lucas.. 2 megalomaniacs.. who made so much money off it that 99.99% of the planet would happily retire off it but not these 2.. Disney paid like $10 BILLION to jobs for it and ended up being worth like 50 billion or something in the end.. When such money are involved you can imagine why no one likes a free hand in content creation.. Not even the ones who originally started that way.
