It’s absolutely disgusting to see people bring politics and beef under the guise of “opinion”, to a thread that is supposed to provide relief to victims. Since you have stated your “opinion” and made it clear that you are not going to help, my suggestion to you people is to JUST SHUT UP and keep your poisoned crap out of this thread so that the rest of us can focus on doing something positive for the lakhs of people who are suffering due to no fault of theirs.

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet
Link Copied

Absolutely. There is no point in bringing in the Beef and Political debates to the flood relief. The state is badly affected and need a lot of help from all of us to rebuild a part of what they have lost. As far a s money donations are concerned, the Chief Minister’s relief fund is the only trustable mode in which we can pay the donations and for whom it matters, the donations are eligible for income tax benefits as well.

If you want to donate some relief items to the affected, you can do so through Amazon, which tied up with 3 NGO’s to make sure the items are delivered to their respective addresses in Kerala and will be distributed from there. The link is given below.

https://www.amazon.in/b?ie=UTF8&node=8891...31

And those who wish to donate dresses and other materials, please make sure the items are new and not the old ones you are keeping for throwing off. (I have read a kerala IAS officer’s facebook post requesting the same.)

It is always cool to remember we all are vulnerable to natural calamities as those who are affected today and you should treat them the way in which you wish you to be treated in that situation.

Earnestly requesting members to keep politics off this thread since the scale of disaster is much larger to involve in mud slinging now.. It is not a disaster that has struck one district of a state but the entire state is impacted. Over 100 lives are lost (and still counting) and the number of people displaced are still not clear.

To give you an understanding of the enormity of the issue, out of 39 dams, 33 had to be opened with one of the largest dam spitting out more than 10-12 lakh liters of water per second. This is over and above the rain that has continuously lashed the state.

The relief camps are unable to hold the people being rescued and some relief camps themselves are being flooded now.

There is acute shortage of dry clothes, sanitary pads, medicines, apart from food material. If you want to reach materials directly please see the following link:
https://keralarescue.in/district_...s/

One of the latest appeals form the Collector of Trivandrum : https://t.co/R1TZ...5i

While Trivandrum as such is not impacted much, the capital city is where a large portion of the relief activity is being coordinated from. A large number of the people are being airlifted from nearby towns and brought to a place called Varakala near Trivandrum where a large relief camp is being set.

  • People are still stuck in building and homes expecting to be rescued.
  • Large number of children are stuck in hostels and awaiting help.
  • The rescue shelters are overflowing with large number of organisations, individuals etc doing their bit to contribute.
  • The Army, Navy, NDRF are all working full swing but help is not sufficient enough.
  • Major highways are closed due to landslides making it very difficult to move items between towns.
  • Railway is impacted too. Major lines connecting the north of Kerala are shut due to bridges being unsafe.

While the rains have slightly reduced, the water level in the dams are still not reducing drastically. The disaster is still unfolding and we dont know when nature would stop..

People of Kerala need help.. However small, if each one can help, may be there is a small child at the other end who gets a meal after being hungry for 3 days now or an ill person getting some medicine. So however small be it, do help..

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu checked into the Taj West End on May 23 at 9.49 am and checked out on May 24 at 05.34 am and ran up a bill of Rs 8,72,485. ‘Aam Aadmi’ Arvind Kejriwal, who checked into the Taj West End on May 23 at 9.49 am and checked out on May 24 at 5.34 am ran up a bill for in-room dining, food/juices of Rs 71,025 and 5,000 for beverages, on the night he arrived (a window of just about 2 hours). Those mind-boggling figures make us wonder out aloud, what did he eat and drink?

Former UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav: Rs 1,02,400
Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati: Rs 1,41,443
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan: Rs 1,02,400
Congress leader Ashok Gehlot: Rs 1,02,400
CPM leader Sitaram Yechury: Rs 64,000
Former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren: Rs 38,400
NCP leader Sharad Pawar: Rs 64,000
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi: Rs 38,400
Former Jharkhand CM Babulal Marandi: Rs 45,952

However, the State Hospitality Organisation did not provide details on the money spent to provide accommodation for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Still can you say that we hand over donations in the hands of these maha-corrupt politicians who swallowed lacs of rupees of hard earned money of innocent tax payers for their one day stay
