Adani Electricity and Tata Power have proposed Tariff hike to the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC). Both companies have asked to Raise Prices by April 2023.

Adani has proposed a 1% electricity price hike for the next 2 financial years for its residential users. The reason being the rise in renewable energy on the generation side and coal prices. Adani said:
“Residential consumers to have a cumulative marginal 1 percent increase in tariff over both FY 23-24 and FY 24-25 as compared to tariffs incurred currently”
The company is also planning to Increase the Fixed Charge by 25-29% for those residential users who consume 300 units/month or more. However, industrial and commercial users have some good news as their price may decrease by 11-18%.
Coming to Tata Power, they want a Price Hike of 71-75 paisa/unit for users consuming upto 300 units/month. On the other hand, those who consume more than 300 units will get a price drop of 5 paisa/unit. Also, industrial and commercial users will get a price drop of around 15%.

Talking about future plans, Adani Electricity has a ₹5700 Crore 5 year project. This project is intended to increase power distribution, and in-turn have a presence in Navi Mumbai (AENM), Kharghar, Panvel, Thane, and other regions of Maharashtra.
Both these companies have peers in Maharashtra Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDCL) and BEST Mumbai, so let’s see their response to these tariff hike proposals.
Which Electricity Provider serves you? Are you satisfied with their Pricing? Do you think they will also Increase Tariffs? Waiting for your valuable feedback.
