Every time you want to sell a stock you need to have verified holdings with CDSL (Central Depository Services Limited) to proceed. Holdings are verified using your unique TPIN (transaction pin) and OTP. It is called e-DIS (electronic delivery instruction slip) verification.

Verification of your holdings is valid till the next market closing time. Thus, in-between this time you can sell stocks without TPIN and OTP Verification. However, those who sell stocks daily find it a hassle to enter TPIN and do OTP verification everyday. Therefore, you can go for DDPI to Sell Stocks without CDSL’s TPIN and OTP Verification!
DDPI (Demat Debit and Pledge Instruction) is a document that allows a broker to debit the stocks from the client’s demat account and deliver them to the exchange with client’s permission. Once you submit the DDPI to your broker, you will be able to sell shares without T-PIN and OTP verification.

You can submit DDPI to your broker simply by enabling it from your Demat account, accepting terms & conditions, OTP verification by Aadhar Card number, and digital signature & verification. DDPI will cost you ₹118 (₹100+18% GST) as a one-time fee (save with Upstox Coupons, Zerodha Promo Code, and Groww offers).
You can also submit DDPI offline to your broker by filling and signing the DDPI form (similar to this). Most brokers like Sharekhan, Zerodha, Groww, Upstox, and 5Paisa activate DDPI within 72 working hours of submission. You will be notified via confirmation email/sms once it is processed.
