Reliance Jio partnership with MediaTek and recently with PureEV has led to a storm of fake news around Reliance launching its own Jio electricity scooter and Jio electric cycle in India. The short answer is no. But, the full & complete answer is Jio is expected to launch its first Jio EV in Q4 2025 in India. Thanks to JioThings partnership with MediaTek and PureEV hinting towards Jio’s step into the EV market. Reliance Jio had launched a press release statement last year in August stating that JioThings will reshape the electric 2-wheeler experience. However as of now, Jio has denied all viral rumours of launching an e-scooter. We’ll discuss more on this below.

There's no official announcement yet on the launch date of the Jio Electric scooter in India but reports are suggesting that Jio might actually launch its most anticipated Jio Electric Scooter in Q4 2025. In its statement, Reliance Jio wrote “JioThings and Mediatek have joined hands to offer Smart Digital Cluster and Smart Module for electric bikes and two-wheelers” Thus people are expecting that Jio might bring two EVs - an upcoming Jio electric scooter and an upcoming Jio electric cycle. But these are only one-sided hopes as of now since Reliance has not provided any official confirmation on any such launch.

We all know Reliance Jio is known for its highly competitive pricing strategy and being a cut of the same cloth, the Jio Electric Scooter has been rumoured to be priced at ₹70,000 to ₹80,000. Some reports even went as far as to claim a price of ₹5999 for the upcoming Jio Electric scooter. Now before you jump the gun, let us share this is just yet another false hype. Reliance has not given any official announcements on this.

Especially after JioThings August 2024 press release stating they aim to "reshape the electric two-wheeler experience in India." Add PureEV’s EV manufacturing background, and the internet just filled in the gaps. But so far, Jio has denied any official plans to launch a scooter.

For those who may not know, JioThings’ Smart Digital Cluster, launched in collaboration with MediaTek, is India’s first “Made in India” EV dashboard system - says Jio. It features 4G Android-based displays, real-time diagnostics, voice control, cloud analytics, and access to Jio apps like JioSaavn, JioPages, and JioXploR. The system is meant to enhance rider experience in existing electric two-wheelers. As per Jio President Kiran Thomas, this is about creating global benchmarks in smart mobility. But again, it’s for EV tech, not a Jio-branded scooter.

So the bottom line is we don’t know if Jio will bring its Jio electric scooter in India or not. They may not or they might as well given in their PR, they’ve clearly appreciated the growing demand of the EV market.
