So now Prime and Prime Lite both will have ads.

Any idea how much difference in quantity of Ads will be there in both plans

Since they increased price of membership recently only, they can't increase it again this soon directly. So they're using this addon trick to effectively increase price by ₹699. GenZ ke namune will be paying, they know it.

If people accept this 699 addon, then be ready another such addon next year.

Amazon Prime Video ads-free plan is launching on 17th June 2025. What this means is that existing customers will start seeing ads despite having a Prime Video membership. Amazon says that the ads are kept limited.

What is changing in Amazon Prime Video? Explained simply

Right now, there are a total of 3 Amazon Prime Video plans, namely, Prime Shopping (₹1499/year), Prime Lite (₹799/year) and Prime Shopping Edition (₹399). Out of these 3 plans, only the first two offer access to Prime Video and only the Prime Shopping Rs.1499 plan offered ad-free viewing.

Ending May 2025, all members including Prime Shopping Rs.1499 plan subscribers will get to see ads and will need to buy a separate ad-free plan to get a complete ad-free viewing experience.

Recently one of our dimers @prabhagar shared with us that in an email, the company wrote “We are writing to you today about an upcoming change to your Prime Video experience. Starting June 17th, 2025, Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements.”

In an official email, Amazon has revealed the price of Prime Video Ads-free plan to be ₹699/year and ₹129/month. This seems to be a discounted price over the original one which is ₹999/year. So going forward from 17th June onwards, new customers will need to purchase this ads-free plan separately to get an ad-free experience. Moreover, this new Amazon Prime Video ad-free plan will be available to buy from 17th June onwards.

Amazon has also confirmed that nothing else apart from this is changing at the moment. All your Prime membership benefits remain the same.
