Thanks to our dimer sandeep.saxas for sharing the Comparison of Best Electric Scooters in India based on important factors like price, power, range, and more. Here, Ather 450 Plus, Ather 450X, Ola S1, Ola S1 Pro, Simple One, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak electric scooters are compared. The highlighted part in Red shows the best scooter in that metric.

As we can see, Simple One leads with 4 Reds i.e. performs well in terms of range, torque, battery, and pick-up speed. Next up are the Ola electric scooters with the Ola S1 being the lowest priced scooter. However, time will tell which is the best electric scooter based on their various performance metrics.

The best reason you should buy the Bounce Infinity e1 electric scooter is its battery swapping feature. Thus, you enjoy 0-100% charge instantly. Also, it comes at a budget price under 60000 which makes it affordable.
The battery swapping feature also raises questions during extreme heat as we have seen incidents of electric scooters catching fire. This is due to the whole battery placed in the dicky which exposes it to more sunlight pressure.
Bounce Infinity has got an extensive battery swapping network where you can get fully charged batteries from the swap stations. Since the battery is removable, you can charge it anywhere including from the comfort of your home.

How’s Ampere magnus ex
have heard a lot about it. seems promising.
ola ka to lola ho gaya
okhi 90 to be added to this list now
What’s the subsidy on electric vehicles in Gujarat?
OLA and few other EVs are like a burning train these days
Hero optima range is 80km. Ola scooter is failure. Heavy battery drainage issue. Simple one still no update on launch. Bounce infinity is another new brand to launch.
if you are preparing to buy scooters with removable battery.
make sure you dont overcharge it. most of the ev makers cut cost in this aspect. BMS is a small piece running in your battery pack. It has very less basic parameters to control your battery charge or sense its temp. Most of the ev makers use chinese battery packs which comes with basic BMS. To make BMS smart you either need a adaptor which is smart enough to sense the BMS parameters or a software equipped inside the scopter has to control the way the scooter is charged.
when you remove the battery and charge and if the adaptor is not smart enough to sense all the BMS parameters and charge. Some day or other it tends to overcharge your battery despite having basic BMS in tje battery pack. A lot of reesearch has been going on in this aspect. But basically removable battery has way less protection against overcharging or other parameters like temp. Top ev mfg does thousands of test and write huge piece of code just to control the battery aspects. Those goes missing with these companies which has removable batteries.
a removable battery is reliable only if the Ev compnaies doenst cost cut on the charging adaptor. Until then avoid these removable batteries..a better solution will be a company which provides batteries precharged batteries which are charged by the company. Like bounce or revolt. But this wont make sense to rural places where they dont have service.
All i suggest is. If you want to switch to Ev right now. Get the ones with fixed battery like Ather, TVS, Ola or chetak. If you cant afford and still want the convenience of removable batteries. Make sure you charge and monitor the percentage regularly.. also dont charge as soon u return home with ur scooter. In case of ather if i try to charge as soon as i came home..it charges very slowly as the heat sensor wont allow it to charge normally. Same like how your mobile behaves when u try to charge it when its hot.
If Budget is concern but still wanna go with fixed batteries
My 1st recommendation. Get Ola S1 If its strictly for commutation. Costs less than a 1 lakh if you are on states which provides good subsidy. But not sure when they will deliver S1. only S1 PRO is given priority as of now.
2nd reocmmendation: Since i have test driven Tvs icube and feel that 80km.range is fine for cities and has very good build quality..although looks boxy. But costs better for the product you are getting. Around 1.15 lakh
3rd recommendation : Ather 450x or Chetak both almost has same range. When it comes to build no one can beat chetak. But i feel chetak and ather are abusing the consumers by inflating the price of their scooters just like how apple is milking their customers.
If money is not a hindrance. Then get Ather or Chetak for you. I would take Ather any day if money is not a concern. Also if you have planned to wait till 2023 . Activa is getting launched in Ev version in late 2023. Mid of august 2022 simple ev has plan to deliver their prebookings. Company told they received 50000 prebooking as of now,
I already own ather 450 which had costed me 1.25 lakh in chennai when i bought it in oct 2019. Booked S1 pro and also cancelled the booking after test driving it. For me the floor board , seat space and battery cooling tech is bummer. I have booked for simple ev. Waiting for them to start deliveries. Ather and Simple share the same DNA and almost exact design. Both are IIT ians startup from bangalore. Unlike Ola which just aquored a company and worked on existing model. Hope Simple doesnt disappint us like Ola.
After reading through my post. If you still wanna go for ev with removable batteries. You can get Revolt although their after sales service is not good and have Ok build quality. Still the range it gives is really good for the price the company asks. Second recommendation is Ampere by greaves cotton coimbatore based company in Tamil nadu. Which is countries oldest EV maker. They have more than 15 years of exp in making ev scooter.
Ampere magnus pro is their latest in scooter model that has max speed 55kmph.
Okinawa looks crappy. Built crappy . almost 7 cases of battery being burst under seat came from Okinawa epluto.
https://auto.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/...
I took a test drive of Okinawa IPraise + which is the top model in terms of range and felt that it there is atleast 10 years for electric scooters to be reliable. Ignore the battery and all those primary things about maintenance, even the comfort and drive quality was worst. The footboard is built at a greater height to increase the ground clearance and this results in a very uncomfortable posture for the rider. The alignment of handle is also too low and there was pain in my arms even in 15 mins of trial.
I am yet to take a test drive of Chetak, Ather and TVS IQube but I feel Okinawa has a lot of ground to cover.
removable batteries doesnt come with proper BMS . which is not advisable for indian weather condition. In the last 2 years almost dozens of vehicles had their batteries release fumes. Inturn catching fire. One thing is common among those vehicles all had removsble battery under the seat and are cheaply made with almost no BMS. Without BMS you tend to overcharge the battery and it can explode any day.
advised not to get scooters with removable batteries. Not great for indian road and weather conditions.
there is a reason why all good brands went with fixed battery. Even the etergo ola which had removable battery in netherland had fixed battery when it comes to india.
No comments about https://pure...n/? Read that its an IIT brainchild and specs look good on paper.
This review article is more bookish and the writer has no idea about the ev market.
The most practical e scooter for long range user these days is Okinawa Praise Pro. Detachable battery makes it easy to charge anywhere like a laptop. No need of dedicated charging stations. It is the highest-selling hi-speed e scooter these days. Hero electric scooters have decent performance too.
Bought Hero Optima HX (single battery) in Oct as a secondary vehicle for my wife, as cars are not always convenient for errands and short distances. The vehicle had a waiting period of over a month but some connections and I got the vehicle in a week.
It has now become the primary vehicle, it’s light and zippy, touches 48-50 in single and 44-45 in pillion. We even have gone with our two kids on flyovers (170+ kg) for a city trip and it surprisingly performed well with speed upto 30.
I avoided the double battery version as battery is like a perishable good, it’s performance will drop and ultimately it’ll die after a certain time period and range of 50-60 seemed good enough at the time I purchased this vehicle, moreover it has removable battery. I didn’t had the chance to test drive Photon, which is a better vehicle with better range and more power.
Here are cons and pros based on my experience of nearly 1500 kms of usage:
Pros:
Zippy, Light, Very Silent, looks quite decent, console (looks high end), remote locking
Cons:
The front shocker disappoints me when I drive alone, not as smooth as my bike. High beam is pretty much similar to low beam. Plastic used could have been better. No DTE option on console, it only shows battery voltage, so basically you have to remember the reading when you last charged.
This vehicle will cost me around 60K on road including taxes and insurances after both central and state govt subsidies (Rajasthan), which is as a steal, it runs around 50-60 on a full charge of 1.7 units which is roughly around 15 rupees.
Pre booked the Simple one in November. No updates yet, but Automobile medias have captured it being tested so it might launch within next 6 months
Bounce bike will be best, since thay have battery swap option, since the major cost in electric bike is battery
Epluto 7g is the best electric scooter till now
Ather too light. It weighs more than 110kgs.
Just like activa and jupiter. What makes u think its light. Probably you must be driving Royal enfield or Harley davidson.
I usually ride Apache but rode activa 3g and 4g many times still felt Ather lighter comparatively
Had rented Ather last year via Royal brothers for a day
Acceleration and speed was fine but too light and thus doesnt seem safe
If any vehicle kisses from behind then spot death maybe
Most of them asking simple ev to be on the list.
Fyi no reviewers had reviewed it. Most of the specs are just on paper. Wait for atleast one reviewer to review it.
Ola atleast gave scooter for review. People who test driven has already shared their views.
Also ather doesnt make subscription plans mandatory. Using ather 450 for past 2 years. Never spent penny on subscription except when i want to service. I subscribe for a quarterly plan and give it for 5k service. Bought for 1.25 lakhs back in october 2019. Die to Covid couldn’t drive much. Driven 13k kms as of now. As of date Ather is the only comoany that has given a practical scooter.
Okinawa , Revolt are although there. The service build acessories are crappy. Ather is a kind of abv avg in service build.
Ola has thermal throttling issues due to its poor cooling solution. Ather has dual fan to cool the batteries. While Ola has passive cooling, which is not effective during highher speeds, Since batteries taking the shape of chasis fans couldn’t be installed even in future to cool it. Basically its a design flaw. All ola can do is. Allow users to enjoy max spped 115kmph for 1 to 2 min. Then after warn to get back to normal speed. Or totally restrict the scooter to not go beyond 80kmph. Ola’s originally called etergo which was launched in Netherland was basically with downgraded motor and battery spec. But etergo had max speed restricted to 45kmph due to which design made sense.
Our indian weather plus the flaw in battery design which doesnt allow to cool the batteries properly may prove to be a major drawback for Ola. I really want india towards ev. Its disheeartening to see. Why Ola didnt forsee this issue.
Chetak has best build. For the spec they are offering . they are asking too much price. Low powered motor . battery spec just like ather. Plus cost way higher than any ev scooters. Puts Ola to the top of the list even having major flaw. If you are a user who drive at 50 to 60kmph only. Then ola is for you.
Cant comment on icube. Looks boxy bulky range is less
Any progress to highlight after 4 months? thinking to replace my ’17 activa with an electric one. OLA is clear no for me, as I need a scooter especially to carry household in the front cabin. okinawa, hero, and local DIY scooters are major fancy in my city.
I like it 😍
I am seeing ola bikes daily.. they are doing test rides at my place.. looks like for tall people its bit difficult.. they 2 riders are keeping legs on front part instead of foot rest
Yaar all are so expensive on what it offer.
Compare them with expenses of Patrol scooters.
They can cover the difference of price in 3 years itself.
Not good for India where electricity is intermittent available.
Ola S1 and S1 pro true range is 80 & 110kms in city limits
181 & 121 kms is of ARAI testing
Where is bajaj chetak?
