Both Zomato's platform fee and Swiggy’s platform fee have been hiked to ₹14.9 and ₹17.58, respectively. An important point to note is that Swiggy’s platform fee includes GST while Zomato doesn’t. While the norm of charging platform fees, convenience fees isn’t new, Swiggy was the first one to roll out a platform fee back in April 2023, soon followed by Zomato in August. The platform fees for both the platforms started at ₹2 then became ₹5, then ₹7 and reached to a solid ₹10 by the end of 2024. If you are a DesiDime user, you might already know how to save on Swiggy and Zomato food ordering. If you don’t, consider signing up on Desidime and reading threads like these created by our users:
For those ordering daily from zomato/swiggy, what is the best way to save some money?
Do you guys still order food online from Swiggy/Zomato today?
Tip: One of the best ways to save on Swiggy is using a Swiggy HDFC Credit Card. ✅✔️
For example, you can get 10% cashback on Swiggy and moreover, recently they were offering a good deal on 2g of gold using this same card (ref deal).

So yeah, it’s that time of the year again where we talk about price hikes. The platform fee has gone up again. Swiggy is now charging around ₹17.58 per order including GST, while Zomato is at about ₹14.9 plus GST.
It still looks like a small amount when you’re placing an order, but over time it does add up.
If you think about it, this fee is kind of the easiest money for these apps.
There is no real extra cost behind it like delivery or discounts. So whatever they charge here mostly goes straight to their earnings. That’s also why you don’t see Swiggy or Zomato trying to keep this fee lower than the other.
An unnamed senior executive at a food tech firm shared with ET:
“People usually don’t stop ordering because of this. But the behaviour changes a bit. Either you end up ordering more items to make the fee feel worth it, or you order less frequently.”
You might have already noticed yourself doing one of these. For the platforms instead of depending only on delivery charges or restaurant commissions, they are adding small fees like this across every order. When you multiply that by millions of users, even a small increase makes a big difference. So while it feels like just another ₹5 or ₹10 added to your cart, it’s actually a pretty smart way for these apps to improve their numbers without making big visible changes.
Zomato itself has 24.9 million monthly transacting users (MTUs) while Swiggy has about 24.3 million.

A user on X (formerly Twitter) created a thread sharing how Zomato’s platform fee has increased over the time.
Aug 2023 → ₹2.00
Oct 2023 → ₹3.00
Jan 2024 → ₹4.00
Apr 2024 → ₹5.00
Jul 2024 → ₹6.00
Oct 2024 → ₹10.00
Sept 2025 → ₹12.50
Mar 2026 → ₹14.90
