How safe is Karnataka Bank? This year it posted record profit: https://www.thehindu.com/news/national/karnatak... I opened FD there recently @ 7.2% (Special Centenary FD offer) but my mom who's ex-banker (and financial decision maker of our family) freaked out and forced me to break it and open it at 7% in Canara bank since it's PSU/nationalised bank 
I tried reasoning that the money is insured anyway by DICGC but nothing worked

Rbi take it's own time to declare a bank bankrupt so it's a long time before u get money back using DICGC so for mere 0.2% it's not worth the hassle ur mom understood it

Edit -
You can accumulate 15L in many forms like liquid, fixed, mutual.
Multiple family PAN can be added under one, and relationship amount is calculated under single umbrella

I felt it's good. Have saving account from past 4 years. Good interest rate on savings account, I don't worry for FD as they're giving 7% above 1 lakh saving balance. 6% upto 1 lakh.
