IDFC First Debit Card going to impose DC charges from 1st July
IDFC First customer care (and my RM) said that all IDFC First life time free Debit Card going to be chargeable from 1st July.
So get ready to pay annual charges for DC.
They said that after mid-June they will officially announce it.
It has been already announced on their website:
no bhai paisa kaise nikaloge
I have not even once used the idfc debit card after opening account.
If we block debit card, will I still be charged for annual fees?
@abhishek012
Ya best is to block the debit card.. nyways never used it. Whats procedure to block the debit card
How do normal banks communicate about new changes in the policy: They will send an email containing details of the changes.
How Legend IDFC communicate: They will send a comparison chart to justify how they are still better than other banks.
IDFC is like that child of a teacher in school, who will always have a justification for his wrong deeds.
So now the only benefit of savings account in this Bank is a slightly higher interest rate and monthly interest credit
I am sure now bank employees will say if u close savings account, CC will also get closed which useless anyways after 17 May
just now received in email. it’s time to move to other bank i think.
It’s just been 2 weeks I opened account with them.
Even If I try to close the account there will be charges.
Better to leave this account to rot to be dormant and eventually closed with minus 100000000000 balance.
Bombard Them on Twitter with messages on Such Idiotic charges and then wait till June 25th ,
If nothing is done until then I will surely be putting account closure request.
Exactly bombard them on twitter and facebook. They might cancel their decision.
dosto as per time wasted with customer care
- debit card charges will be charged in advance on 30th june itself or in phases in coming weeks in batches
- no debit card will be free no matter what the balance is
- if account is closed then fd can remain open but it will depend upon branch. they will not let it open 100% i know it
- upi cannot be used if debit card is closed.moreover it is mandatory to take debit card
customer care person mentioned that charges are in hands of management. he said to mail management our suggestions and he gave this mail id
someone write a typed mail here so that we can all enter our name and account number and forward it to them.
one more thing they said that slowly credit card will be made chargeable too as per market conditions

Yes.
It’s better to not waste time with customer care.
I have very doubt with this bank.
I think they are at brink of situation like yes bank.
Their twitter handle does not follow any one even their brand ambassador but they only follow some chuttu chuttu kannada actress. They give same reply to every tweet.
Let’s make a general template for email and post here so anyone can copy paste and edit their name and account number and mail to the given email address as @kukdookoo suggested.
As I recently opened this account, If I close account now it will even cost me.
So if they’re stubborn with their decsion of imposing DC fee I will transfer my whole amount to HDFC and let that account to rot to be dormant and eventually automatically closed.
There’s no benefit of maintaining this account as there’s no reward points of using their dc.
what about select debit card?
you mean infinite card. I guess it won’t be levied as I had too upgraded to it few days back and haven’t received this charges email.
Moreover this mailer doesn’t says anything about visa infinite debit card charges, so it should be free
How to apply for RUPAY PLATINUM/classic under an IDFC account and what will be the charges ?

V.vaidyanatha , CEO of IDFC , he dont have twitter or facebook account so bombard him with your messages on LInkedin
The profile shows not available.. So you guys started messaging him and hidden the profile
I have a savings account + credit card with them. How to maintain credit card while closing the savings account?
found the closure form, will drop it to the bank asap https://www.idfcfirstbank.com/content/dam/idfcf...
According to https://www.idfcfirstbank.com/notice...rd, it looks like for IDFC FIRST Vishesh, after 30th June 2022, it is AMB ₹5000 and RuPay Platinum debit card issuance fee – nil, RuPay Platinum annual fee ₹199. The Visa Platinum and Signature have expensive charges.
Still better than ICICI who have AMB ₹10000 (with initial funding of ₹20000) and still take debit card issuance fee of ₹177.
It is Rural savings account, not for everyone (Should’ve remained untouched – Zero MAB). IDFC Idiots thought removing the issuance fee and decreasing the annual fee of Rupay Platinum DC will make them ignore the MAB requirements (Wonder how many of these guys got Rupay platinum DC by paying 500rs initially and 300 every year for renewal?)
I have two minor accounts and 3 savings accounts from IDFC first bank.
2/3 are women empowerment accounts where I get 5% cashback up to 500 for all my debit cards spends.
so no plan to close these accounts unless offer is stopped.
1/3 is regular 25k account and linked with 2 minor accounts. Both minor accounts have visa signature debit card. Both of them are zero balance accounts.
Anyone knows Can we continue minor accounts without debit card ?
Similar here.
I have one Women variant account that gives 500 cashback every month. So not planning to close or downgrade that.
Better ask your RM or email your branch and get it in writing for the minor accounts.
I’m going to call them and give them an earful.
Is it possible to use saving account without debit card?
SBI, Icici, etc allow such uses.
what are the charges for visa infinite debit?
PS: permanently blocked it
Anyone using Vishesh Salary account with Rupay Platinum Debit Card account of idfc?
existing users se bhe lenge debit card charges, got their mail yesterday
I am going to close my account (and my wife’s account) today or tomorrow.
Should I
1. Transfer all the funds to my other account and make it zero and then go to branch.
2. :Leave more than 25k and then go to branch?
3. Leave few hundred rupees and then go to branch?
Accounts are 2+ years old.
Make zero and go. For one day no one going to charge you.. If so raise to ombudsman that bank is denying to close the account
Can we permanently block debit card via app to make sure this annual debit card charges is not charged ?
i asked them they said upi will stop i said no problem then they said that card will be auto reissued
this change is not for customers in select, wealth or private category, it still says complementary debit card. and that is issued on visa infinite.
But everyone has received email as well
i just called customer care. They said that accounts with balances above 10lacs are exempt from it. I told them i will be closing my wife’s and my account. A call back is being arranged but i am not very hopeful.
i received call they said they have taken feedback and if most customers will give feedback they will reduce or stop charges.will deposit closure form this week
I went to the branch to close the account, they didn’t bother to ask me the reason. The lady handed me an account closure form. I filled it and submitted to her. I got sms confirmation after 2 hours that my account closure request is taken with service request number. Such a quick service bank.
They were also prepared for it.
Ii to saala hona hi tha
They’ve revoked the decision .
There’ll be no chrges for debit card for existing members.
Any official anouncement ?
got a call from RM, the decision is revoked and existing customers will not be charged, the notification is removed from website as well
Same to me as well.
I raised complaint for callback in app
IDFC Customer Support Called Me And Informed There Are No Charges On Debit Card For Existing Account Holders
@kukdookoo got written confirmation as well.
please share the confirmation here, so we can use it to if they mess up in future
i wrote an email to vaidyanathan that i am going to close the account.
today someone called from Mumbai and confirmed i will be spared.
later in evening, someone from Delhi called me claiming to be some senior officer.
i am sure idfc customers have responded aggressively and the bank have learnt they are not dealing with commoners.
Can’t we close debit card and save charges?
