I am trying to curate the list of places where we can buy GV with 5% cashback after the devaluation for SBI cashback card.
Add your findings in the discussion so that the thread can be edited and made useful.

ashb009 wrote:Yes.Wait, buying Amazon GV from Amazon directly is still fetching 5%?
THIS THREAD IS GOING TO MAKE SURE AMAZON ALSO STOPS CASHBACK ON GV 🫡.
ONCE THEY CHANGE MERCHANT TO Utility payment category WE ALL ARE SCREWED
itsmejerry wrote:It is not from some list, somebody experimented with different txns then called customer care to know MCC. Also, this is not permanent as banks/sites can change their MCC code anytime.Where can I find the complete list?
What about irctc wallet load?
Vu! Good job!! Please keep experimenting and updating this thread adding more places and MCC codes.
Asmi_Alpha wrote:Agree, with these many restrictions there has no point to keep this card and paying 999+tax annually.
the amount of time and energy we have to put now to earn 5% cashback is huge and so hectic now.
which makes this card useless for paying 999 annual fee.
Unless someone do various research and uses it monthly with all precautions. and still as bank/sites can change the MCC code. so there is NO guarantee till when the last research will work.
few days ago, i didn't even knew What the F*ck is MCC. 😓
My planning is to CLOSE this card before 1 years completes OR any changes in the Policy/LTF. Though its personal for everyone.

Please do close the card. There have been too much misusages . it is still giving 5% where they intended to give. They just closed the misusages . im just glad they didnt block our cards
It's too risky anyway. They will deduct cb/charge you amount on any random day. Better to avoid. Unless it's small value transactions.
Intermiles eligible for cashback?
You can call SBI CARD and ask them MCC code of your transaction, they will tell you.
Call SBI support after your transaction settlement.

My all flipkart transaction settled with the same merchant name

Absolutely, SBICards cannot be trusted anymore. They actually deduct failed reward point reversal charges for transactions done months ago, so yes one fine day they can come up and debit your account of any charges complying their general TnC.

People r buying almost unlimited amounts amazon pay balance and getting 5% cb and paying insurance for which very few credit card companties give rp that too too little.
Then what about legitimate users who buy gifts for legitimate uses? Don't they also loose their benefits?
Then how come you say they "just" closed the missusages?

Did u verify it?
Many people rotated money and resold gift cards by using this card and earned 5% unlimited cashback.
Utility bills, gold, jewellery, fuel, insurance payments, etc. via gift voucher purchase.
Many people used this card for Business expenses.
SBI closed all the misuses and imposed limits and restrictions on them. All restrictions are justified.

Now I think from the SBI CB card launch day anniversary, they should make renewal charges either 649+gst or 699+gst to keep existing users as well as get new ones... exclusions applied hard, fees need to be tweaked too!

You may be right.
However, to refrain misuse, instead of blocking these MCC, sbi should restrict the monthly cashback to lower limit.
which makes this card useless for paying 999 annual fee.

Yes create more threads so it will be easier for them to remove from these remaining sources also
