need help regarding credit card upgrade

Currently I have axis privilege cc with a few thousand points and there is one cc upgrade available into axis select. So my question is if I upgrade into this card so my existing points will be transferred into a new card or not?

After upgrading the cc and paying the joining fee I'll get 10k edge reward points. So these 10k points will be added in the previous card points?
