โ–ช๏ธŽ ๐˜ณ๐˜ข๐˜ด๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜บ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ข ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ข๐˜ญ ๐˜ด๐˜ข๐˜ฌ๐˜ต๐˜ฆ๐˜บ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ (what you pay is what you get): desi BPL brand (but often imported from PRC) as sold by Reliance/ Jiomart.

โ–ช๏ธŽ if portability and ease of carrying is an issue (weight concerns too) then battery operated and chargeable types (where the lead/cord can be detached) are preferable.

โ–ช๏ธŽ might want to decide between the rotary blade type mechanism โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€ŽVERSUS the comb/teeth type ones.

โ–ช๏ธŽ Certain models from Philips (both: carded and portable) do have longevity with fairly good performance over its lifetime.

โ–ช๏ธŽ one does ought to consider the features or quirks on needs and the ones that one is ready to trade off.โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž
โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€ŽFor example: At times i only preferred units that could go from near zero (0.5 m.m.) to 20.m.m. and thus also serve the purpose of hair clipper (scalp hair).
โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Žthe Trade Off in that was to go beyond my budget at the time, opt for a brand/model which wad otherwise not going to make it to the shortlist and obviously was a bit bulky or came with too much paraphernalia thst i did not care for.
Marketers love creating exclusivity around certain events/ products and then they hardly go on good offers.

โ–ช๏ธŽ Amongst corded ones or carded plus rechargeable ones: some models from Wahl and Remington are great: effectiveness, features wise and longevity wise.
But 'caveat emptor'.. because a lot many investors/managements see South Asia as an 'easy market to dump local sourced products from cheap hubs in Asia'.
โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€ โ€Ž โ€โ€โ€Žโ€โ€โ€Ž โ€โ€Thus, poor design choices or workmanship and lack of proper local after sales support may often lead to having few models from even Remington, zwahl, Panasonic turning out to be lemons.

โ–ช๏ธŽ the good trimmers from Panasonic usually end up being in a bouquet of 'grooming kit' and that needlessly Jackson the price up.. a lot.

More often than not, the 3000 and 4000 series from Philips https://desidime.com/last_comment?topic_id=336790 were/are a relatively safe bet for first time ( beginner) use and even for mid-level usage.

โ–ช๏ธŽ Braun has some mid-range foil type trimmers.. series 6 onwards. But i did not even mention foil type as an option above.
May be i am biased, may be i feel that those aren't as "value for money".. in that they have restricted applications (use case scenarios).
Also at-least the wet clean type Braun (foil-type) razors/trimmer i tried .. felt overpriced.

(wet type as in: can be used under shower.. the head part of the electronic is safely shielded).

Philips launched their men's grooming razors under the 'Norelco' brand in North America and somewhere down the line the name Norelco came to be associated with rotary (blades) trimmers.

Dan gives a basic yet fairly good understanding of the rotary type versus foil type trimmers.. in a brief video.
