Yes Bharat will win IPL

My personal opinion is that India currently has a lot of deserving players. If it was possible we could even make two squads of 15 players each. The problem is not with talent or selection but rather intent with which we play in international tournaments.

Favouritism has spoiled indian cricket. The hype around a player with a few good knocks and the money in IPL surrounding that hype has really spoiled the want to actually do more on international level. I am in no way saying that one does not want to represent India or has lack of intent to win games for India but they certainly have become less competitive at international level. IPL, all the money and endorsement opportunities, the royalties of having a 2 month long tournament with your family travelling around has got to the heads of the players.

One of the recent examples is of Ishan Kishan, He scored a 200 in one days and was doing all well until he decides to take a break that too even against SA in a test series. I mean someone as young as him showing a lack of intent to play for India when the selectors and management are constantly showing faith in him keeping him in the squad shows how much this IPL and it’s hype has got into the heads of our players. I never see Indian players taking break during IPL, commercial contracts worry them so much but Indian national team contract is a joke to them nowadays.

There were reports suggesting he was unhappy with him not getting picked in the playing 11 too often but keeping these talks aside, even when in a press conference Rahul Dravid suggested him continue playing some domestic cricket he took that lightly and still didn’t show up in domestic circuit and was later rightly sacked by BCCI in central contract.

People might jokingly rubbish Gambhir’s remarks about how favouritism has spoilt indian cricket but that is the truth. Kohli might be scoring runs consistently in tournaments but the strike rate has been a constant concern. WC 2023 seemed like he was playing for runs looking to get 50 centuries in this tournament itself, but if someone pointed that out they would be overlooked and targeted by the huge fan following and PR agencies which nowadays these players can’t survive without. Go watch hayden talk about the same that how the key to Australia’s success in the past 20 years is that they don’t care if it is Steve Smith or Warner or M Starc, if they are not performing they don’t shy away from dropping em.

Team management decides the role for players but here in India if Kohli with the time he likes to take to settle in is asked to bat lower down the order depending upon the requirements it would be an unfair ask. Here we picks players as per the role they intent to play for the team.

India may or may not win but the way Indian cricket is going we are mostly gonna end up on the embarrassing side at the end of these tournaments in the coming years if the problems are not addressed.

Clear message from @ BCCI,play for records and stats,you would be selected only if you score a losing 100,and not for a winning 30-40.

Tbf Indians have stopped being bothered about international cricket as much, because IPL has taken center stage.
