Amazon following the footsteps of Flipkart has now started charging a processing fee of ₹49 extra for bank discounts above ₹500. This fee is applicable for Prime members too. When you apply an IBD (Instant Bank Discount) Offer, the processing fee shall be levied from now onwards. If you cancel or return the ordered item, this processing fee is non-refundable. Here’s all that we know so far about Amazon charging ₹49 extra processing fee on orders.
Our dimer @SudhirG shared with us in a recent post the news of Amazon starting an offer processing fees of Rs.49. Flipkart also has a similar fee on its platform which the brand calls “secured packaging fee” for smartphones charged at Rs.59 per item. This same fee becomes “Protect Promise Fee” of Rs.29 when you are shopping for an appliance such as a washing machine on Flipkart.
Croma on the other hand doesn’t seem to have a special offer processing fee. Though the electronics store does charge a delivery fee (Rs.199) for select items.
On Amazon, while it seems like this fee is at the moment only applicable on select items, we must note that changes like these are often rolled out in a phased manner. So if you are not able to see the offer processing fee on Amazon, simply wait for a few days and you’ll start seeing one.
This is all that we know so far about Amazon starting to charge offer processing fees. Instant bank discounts especially during sale periods are a great way to save big.
While Rs.49 may seem like a minor charge, it is still a step toward e-commerce platforms increasing their control over customers and pricing dynamics while maintaining the illusion of discounts. What starts as a small charge on select items could eventually become a norm across categories.

Lol Gayzone is run by Andy Jassy and not by our current govt. And do you also blame / applaud the govt when you get Rs 1 samples? Ever heard of ONDC, who launched it and for what purpose? Go find it.
Gayzone brags about being the most customer centric company but sells products at inflated price. And now this nonsense, it's time to ditch Gayzone like it ditched its loyal customers.
Amazon should impose a 1% processing fee on Visa and Mastercard transactions instead of a flat ₹49 fee, just like it has done with Visa and Mastercard in other countries.
Close credit card s and enjoy life
Seems like Amazon recruited team members of existing ecom sites to make Amazon a vulnerable place for consumers.
This decision might make little or less impact on sale but will surely add amazon in "Same shame No different List of honours"
Very well written 🥂
