DesiDime recently hosted the Retailer Awards for the year 2022. It was intended to bring out E-Commerce Market Insights from the end-users point of view. Thus, helped in getting to know what customers preferred in different categories in the last year. In this article, we have also done some analyses on how the winners could have been chosen by the Dimers, and also the promising ones to lookout for in 2023. In all 20K+ user responses were recorded so let’s checkout the winners in each category.

These 3 provide almost the same Travel services, but I guess due to better Branding, Deals, and add-on coverages, MakeMyTrip has got 50% dimers on its side. It will be interesting to see how EaseMyTrip, Ixigo, and Yatra go about this year.



This is the favorite category of most of the youth today. Amazon Prime Video has taken the cherry on the cake. This might be due to budget pricing, more new & popular movies in India, and better regional content. Also the fact that it gives shopping & free delivery benefits on Amazon.

Nice to see Croma growing in popularity in the e-commerce space. The Amazon Great Indian Festival Sale got Amazon ahead. However, the Flipkart Big Billion Sale was not too far. Tata CLiQ is also a good electronic marketplace, don’t know why they don’t excel! Besides, Vijay Sales and Reliance Digital are the ones to lookout for.

boAt was expected, but Zebronics has emerged as a surprise in this list, leaving behind Noise. What might have worked for Zebronics last year can be soundbars, gaming accessories, headphones, and peripherals at a lower price comparatively.

Just 39% means BigBasket and Swiggy Instamart are just round the corner. One more interesting insight here is that Male preferred JioMart, but most Females went for BigBasket. Moreover, with other 10-min Instant Grocery Delivery Apps such as Zepto, BlinkIt, and Dunzo Daily, 2023 will have much to offer for users in terms of online groceries. Not to forget DMart which has done great in the offline retail space! Meanwhile, BigBazaar got taken over by Reliance Smart Bazaar. Last but not least, Amazon Fresh and Flipkart Grocery which are also very good options.



Swiggy benefited from its grocery partner Instamart. Meanwhile, Zomato’s BlinkIt is still making its way. Box8 has silently sneaked into the 3rd spot, thanks to its consistency.

Amazon has also excelled in the 3rd party Recharge & Utility Bill Payments space, thanks to its superb service, Cashback & Shopping Rewards, other offerings (Insurance, Travel, Movie Tickets) and a bit of strategic marketing. Many believe that Paytm falls short in rewarding its customers. However, they have improved with Cashback Points and other Rewards. Same is the case with Google Pay who earlier used to give good money back rewards.

Despite the rise of UPI transactions, most dimers opted for cc/dc for their online expenses. This may be due to reward points and other loyalty benefits. People are also using ‘Buy Now Pay Later’ apps such as Slice Pay, Simpl, PostPe, and LazyPay. Also, many use Wallets for redeeming balance and availing cashback offers.

There is also an option such as OneCard and Jupiter Card for lower credit limits.
