Dunki Released: Movie Ticket offers India

I'll share a very interesting fact -

On the very day Dunki released (Fri, 22nd Dec), news broke of a Nicaragua-bound chartered flight from UAE carrying 303 Indians being grounded in France. The French authorities were acting on an anonymous 'tip-off' that there was human trafficking involved.

Ever since that day, the media (Hindustan Times newspaper in particular) has been carrying a front-page article providing an update on the situation. While this turned out to be a case of illegal immigration, interestingly, each article makes it a point to refer to the "donkey route" and then goes on to state that it is derived from the Punjabi word "dunki" which means to hop from one place to another. Absolutely no mention is made of the movie, thankfully, but you need to be an idiot to miss the coincidence.

Now, Dunki has Jio Studios as one of the producers. Hindustan Times is owned by HT Media (primarily Birla). ADAG / Reliance Asset Management used to have a stake in HT Media in the past. The dots are not that hard to connect. 

TL;DR - I believe someone associated with the movie was the one who gave the 'tip-off' to the French authorities hoping that all the news media coverage in India would increase interest in the movie (a bit like The Kashmir Files etc). Thankfully, the audience did not seem to have fallen for that trick and panned the movie.

I'm noticing that this gulaag survivor is spamming more negative reviews on dunki then the others.
