Honor will soon make its comeback to India with its latest Honor smartphone. The brand was on a break from the Indian smartphone market for around 3 years and now, the former CEO of Realme India, Mr. Madhav Sheth has confirmed that we will see a new Honor smartphone launch in India in a tweet. He is now somehow affiliated with Honor India and has been tipping us with the brand’s comeback in India for quite some time. Following the rumors going around, we can predict that we might soon get to see the Honor 90 launch in India. If these rumors are true, we will get an Honor mobile in India after 3 years!

Honor Coming Back To India: Honor 90 Mobile In India

The smartphone market has been quite hyped up since the beginning of 2023. This year has been much better than 2022 and it almost feels like we are back in 2019. Considering all the brilliant smartphones that we have got to see so far and that Honor is coming to India again, things are finally getting interesting and our hopes are high for all these brands now. Mr. Madhav Sheth just confirmed that Honor will come back to India really soon with a recent tweet. Today, we will talk about Honor India’s comeback and the challenges that the brand would face.

Honor Coming Back to India

Honor’s comeback to the Indian smartphone market isn’t anything new for us. We earlier discussed the possibility of the same in our thread here. The only question was ‘When Will Honor Come Back in India?’. Although we do not have the answer for it right now, it’s now officially confirmed that Honor will come with its smartphones in India really soon. This was officially announced by Mr. Madha Sheth on Twitter, or ‘X’, as its new name.

Here’s what the tweet from the former Realme India CEO says:

“Exciting News Alert! Honor Smartphones will be launched soon in India. Join us on this incredible journey as we empower the future with Honor Tech. #FeelTheFreedom #FeelTheHonor #TechForIndians”.

This tweet makes it clear that Honor is coming back to India with its new smartphone launches really soon. So, now we need to look forward to when Honor makes its comeback and with which smartphone. Well, we have some tips regarding that too. According to the famous YouTuber, Technical Guruji, Honor will launch its new smartphone in India in September.

Honor Mobile in India: Honor 90 Launching in India?

The Honor 90 is most likely to launch as the new Honor Mobile in India. This is the latest smartphone from the brand that was launched globally and overall, it offers quite a lot for the price. Sporting a curved AMOLED 120 Hz display, the Honor 90 comes with the Snapdragon 7 gen 1 processor and sells for around Rs. 29,000 in the global market. Rather than the specifications, what Indians loved about Honor smartphones were their flawless MagicOS and great picture quality. If the same continues with the new Honor phones launching in India, then Honor might be the next big thing here.

But, there are certain problems that Honor needs to address before entering India again with its smartphones.

Does Honor Spy on its Users? Are You Safe?

The biggest question that everyone would raise on Honor would be about the privacy of the users. The United States banned Huawei saying that the Chinese government used Huawei’s smartphones to spy on the people of the US. Later, Google stopped selling its services and processors to Huawei too. Although Honor is now a separate company and on paper, has nothing to do with Huawei, do you think that’s enough to gain the trust of the people and the Government of India?

The GOI earlier banned TikTok and many other Chinese apps that were threatening the privacy of the common man…it’s possible that Honor would face a hard time getting itself out of the government’s suspicions. Thus, it won’t be easy for Honor to make its comeback to India.

Do Honor Phones Have Google?

Yes! Honor smartphones come with Google’s Android OS, run Google apps, and also use Snapdragon processors too. Once Honor parted its ways with Huawei, it became a separate legal entity and now it can freely trade with Google, Qualcomm, and other companies that may not offer their services to Huawei. But, this single question can create a big problem before Honor comes back to India. Many people still believe that Honor smartphones do not have Google apps and Android OS, which can be a big barrier between Honor and its potential buyers in India.

So, before coming back to India with the Honor 90, Honor would have to solve these problems too.

Yup, it’s true; Honor is coming back to India after almost 3 years. The first Honor mobile in India after this long hiatus will probably be the Honor 90, which will likely launch in India in the month of September. Although this particular information isn’t confirmed yet, one thing that we know for sure is that Honor’s comeback to India will be really exciting for all of us.

Honor hardware and UI are the best in budget android. Hope we don't get Realme UI, it sucks.

Nope, we won't get the Realme UI in an Honor phone, that's impossible.

EMUI is one of the best skin on top of Android. I have used it for more than 9 years. Wish kirin chipsets are back. I wish best of luck to honor.

Isn't Honor like a sub-brand of Huawei ? Similar to how Redmi is a sub-brand of budget offering whereas it's parent Xiaomi is upper-mid range to premium.

True, a combination of EMUI and a Kirin chipset would do the job for me. Though I believe Honor is releasing more of its phones now with SD and MTK processors. Let's see what happens.

Honor was a sub-brand of Huawei, but it now works as an independent company. Though that's what both companies say, it can also be just a way to get their phones on Google's platform.

Nice! I'm using Honor smartphone since 2018 as a primary device, their smartphones are top notch. I'd love to buy another great smartphone from Honor if they ever release it.

You never know. Security reasons might become a reason to tailor Realme UI for honor.

I'm pretty sure, they went through that arrangement just to avoid the US sanctions on Huawei. Huawei was always rumoured to be partly held by Chinese PSU's. Honor otoh was sold off to the state government of Shenzen province.Anyways that way, Honor gets access to Google Play and other SoC's from US hardware manufacturers.

Even with some security reasons, Honor phones won't get the Realme UI on them. The first reason will be Madhav Sheth himself, who now works with Honor and is no longer the CEO of Realme India. Either he won't choose Realme UI for Honor phones, or Realme won't allow it.
Second, if getting Realme UI or any other brand's UI lets Honor enter the highly competitive Indian smartphone market (which Honor can easily rule since people love their phones), they will not allow such a thing because it will mean more competition for them.
Third, one of Honor's biggest selling points is its MagicOS/EMUI (both are the same). So the brand itself won't replace its UI. Also, what different would an Honor phone be if it runs on Realme UI? There won't be a single reason for others to buy Honor phones because Realme can provide the same specs as Honor too.

I think Xiaomi has started breaking the trend again with the Redmi 12/POCO M6 Pro. And if Honor launches a phone in that price range too, we might see that golden era of smartphones again that we experienced in 2019 with the Redmi Note 7 series, Honor 10 Lite, Realme 3 and 3 Pro.

I believe so too.
People even claim that Honor's phones were so good and long-lasting so that China could spy on others for even longer, which actually makes sense. But we can't do anything but trust our Government to inspect the brand thoroughly before letting it sell its smartphones here. Fingers 🤞
