Google Pixel 6a Free Battery Replacement Eligibility & Process

On July 2nd, Google launched Pixel 6a Battery Replacement Program after identifying that certain Pixel 6a phones (“Impacted Devices”) require a mandatory software update to reduce the risk of potential battery overheating which could pose a risk to users.

Under the Pixel 6a battery replacement program, Google is offering one battery replacement at no charge for eligible Pixel 6a devices who pass the eligibility criteria of 400 charging cycles and impacted battery life (after software update scheduled to roll out from July 8th, 2025.

The software update is mandatory to install and all Pixel 6a devices will be automatically updated starting 8th July, 2025. For “impacted” Pixel 6a devices, free battery replacement program begins from July 21st, 2025 in India.

1. Make sure your Pixel 6a is connected to Wi-Fi and charged.

2. The Android 16 update will install automatically on July 8th, 2025 or you can check manually in Settings > System > System update.

3. This update is mandatory and required to enable the battery management features.

4. Next, go to the official Pixel 6a Battery Program Registration Page

5. Confirm your email & enter your device’s IMEI number to check if your Pixel 6a is eligible for free battery replacement

6. If you can’t find the IMEI number, just dial *#06# from your Pixel 6a device to receive your 15-digit IMEI code

7. Once done, check for your eligibility

8. Only Impacted Devices (with overheating risk and 400+ charge cycles) qualify for battery replacement.

9. If eligible, choose your preferred repair method, Walk-in repair at an authorized service center or Mail-in repair

10. Complete the registration form and follow the instructions to book your Pixel 6a battery repair or request a mail-in kit.

11. Back up all your data to Google Drive or a pendrive.

12. Remove your SIM card and any personal accessories.

13. Be aware devices will be physically inspected at the repair center for cracks, damages, scratches, etc.

14. Once you’ve filled the form successfully, you’ll be provided list of available options near you and an estimated fulfilment time

Important: Note that the free battery replacement for Pixel 6a devices is only available until July 8th, 2026 (1-year period). So be sure to avail the free Pixel 6a battery repair offer while it's still there.

• Your device must be classified as an “Impacted Device” by Google. Typically models with potential overheating risks and 400+ battery charge cycles.

• The phone must have been purchased before July 2, 2025

• The phone must be used by an individual end-user (not resellers or bulk owners).

• Proof of ownership may be required.

• Signs of excessive force or tampering

• In case of out-of-warranty issues, repair charges may apply.

Only Pixel 6a impacted devices are eligible for Google free battery replacement offer. No other Pixel models are included such as Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, etc.
