So for an extra Rs.243, is the Jio 909 plan worth buying over the old Jio 666 Plan?
Let’s compare the Jio 909 Plan vs the Jio 666 Plan and see the complete details of the Jio’s newly launched pack, Jio 909 plan with 84 days validity and OTT benefits.

Interestingly, the news of Jio's new plan, the 909 pack comes around the same time as the telco’s rival Airtel has launched its new Airtel 869 prepaid plan with Disney+ Hotstar.
While Jio has been winning in terms of gaining more market share and subscribers, Bharti Airtel is currently leading in its ARPU (Average Revenue Per User) game in the telco space.
As per the latest news currently, the Bharti Airtel share price dipped today on December 7 by 2% after an alleged private equity giant offloaded its stake in the telecom company.

If we compare the two plans, the Jio 909 plan vs the Jio 666 plan, the newly launched Jio 909 plan offers a better value for money. How?
Since both the Jio 909 and Jio 666 plan offer similar validity, let’s consider the base value of the Jio 909 pack to be Rs.666 and the remaining Rs.243 cost to be for the extra OTT benefits (plus not to miss, we get an additional 0.5GB data as compared to the 666 Jio Plan).
In this case, buying Zee5 and SonyLiv bundle with the Jio 909 plan would be a better choice as you save Rs.132 (Rs.375 cost of buying the OTT apps separately - Rs.243 cost of buying the OTT apps bundle with the Jio Plan)
But, the new Jio 909 plan might not be useful for everyone. If you are into movies, OTTs and entertainment, you might consider recharging the Jio 909 plan.
Even better, you can even create your own Watcho Flexi plan (add any 2 OTT apps of your choice for a cost of Rs.149 per month, including taxes).
If you choose to subscribe to the annual membership, you can get the Zee5 and SonyLiv subscription at almost the same price as you get with the Jio 909 Pack. Additionally, you also get some extra OTTs to enjoy.

So this was all about sharing the newly launched Jio 909 plan details. There’s also some drama going on between the telcos and the OTT apps.
Telcos vs OTT, the debate brimming around the corner since 2015
There has also been a debate brimming around the corner between OTT Apps vs the telcos. In simple words, telcos are demanding that OTT communication apps especially WhatsApp, Telegram, etc who ride on the existing infrastructure built by the telcos must compensate (do revenue sharing) and should be regulated. While on the other hand, the OTT communication apps say that they are different from the telcos and aren’t a substitute for them. Additionally, they help telcos enhance their revenue through high data consumption.
