OnePlus started as an online-only brand in 2013 quickly became a “flagship killer” and a favourite among many smartphone users due to the value for money phones as well as the clean, fast and refined OxygenOS, which OnePlus clearly nailed at that time.
However, in the following years, OnePlus continued to lose market share in India - likely due to the massive competition from Apple and Samsung. Oppo which is OnePlus’s parent company merged with OnePlus and decided to merge OxygenOS with Oppo’s ColourOS and invested about 10 billion in the year 2022. Despite this, OnePlus continued to lose in the Indian smartphone market and globally.
Fast forward to today as of August 2026, OnePlus continues to shut down in international markets including Europe and North America. The brand however claims to continue operating in markets like India.
Now after a price hike of upto 15% across smartphones, tablets and earbuds and continuing to launch new phones such as the OnePlus N6X, the brand is trying to make its footprints in the Indian smartphone market.

OnePlus isn’t the only smartphone brand to be introducing a price hike. Samsung, Oppo and iQOO have also done the same with rumours on Apple iPhones going to get costlier by upto ₹10,000 to ₹12,000
