FAQ's

1. How does the FASTag scanner work?

FASTag operates through Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. When you attach the FASTag to your vehicle, it gets scanned by the FASTag scanner at toll plazas. The toll amount is then automatically deducted from your linked prepaid or savings account. This eliminates the need for manual toll payments and provides a smooth, cashless transaction process.

2. Which is the best FASTag service provider for toll services in India?

FASTag is a bank neutral concept, and several banks are authorized by the National Electronic Toll Collection (NETC). You have the option to purchase a FASTag for your vehicle from any bank authorized by NETC, with no impact on its capabilities. It is recommended to choose a bank based on your specific preferences and requirements as banks may have promotions or discounts available.

3. How to buy FASTag?

FASTags can be purchased from multiple sources such as online, at your bank (if they offer FASTag services), at highway toll plazas, or directly from the Indian Highway Management Company Ltd (IHMCL). To buy a FASTag, you will need to provide certain documents such as the Vehicle Registration Certificate, a passport-size photo of the vehicle owner, Aadhaar card, and any other KYC document for identification and address proof.

4. What are the documents required to get a FASTag for your vehicle?

To get a FASTag, you can either purchase it from an authorized Tag issuer or a participating bank. Once you receive the FASTag, it will be activated within 24-48 business hours. The necessary documents required to obtain a FASTag include the Vehicle Registration Certificate, a passport-size photograph of the vehicle owner, and KYC documents for ID and address proof such as Voter ID Card, Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport, along with the Aadhaar Card. These documents are vital for the proper identification and registration of the FASTag.

5. What are the charges for FASTag?

FASTag charges consist of three components: the Tag Joining Fee, Security Deposit, and the Threshold Amount. The Tag Joining Fee is a one-time payment made at the time of acquiring the FASTag. It covers the cost of issuing and activating the tag. The Security Deposit is a refundable amount collected to ensure the proper usage and return of the FASTag. The Threshold Amount is the minimum balance required to be maintained in the linked prepaid or savings account to facilitate automatic toll payments. This balance ensures a smooth and uninterrupted toll transaction experience.

6. Are there any benefits to having a FASTag?

Yes! FASTag is a long-term solution for toll payments. It simplifies the toll payment process by allowing direct debits from your linked account, saving you time and fuel. Besides, you can bypass long queues at toll gates. The transparent payment system ensures that you know the exact amount paid at each toll plaza.
