UPI Lite is launched on the Paytm app and customers can do UPI Lite transactions of up to ₹200 without having to use their UPI pin. Recently, PhonePe also launched UPI International on their platform which is one more step taken by UPI to make cross-country payments easier and more convenient. Earlier this month, we also shared the news of UPI Lite soon launching on Paytm, Gpay, and other UPI Payment apps. In the same article, we also shared what is UPI Lite, Countries where UPI Lite is available, How does UPI Lite work, and more.

UPI Lite on Paytm is a new feature added by the payments app. Using UPI Lite on Paytm, customers can do offline payments to any vendor, family, or friend using their UPI Lite wallet. Note that only transactions up to ₹200 do not need a UPI Pin. For UPI Lite transactions above ₹200 on Paytm, you need to add your UPI Pin to validate the payment.
To activate UPI Lite on Paytm, you need to first make sure your bank supports the UPI Lite feature. Currently, the banks that support UPI Lite transactions are Canara Bank, HDFC Bank, Indian Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Union Bank of India, and Utkarsh Small Finance Bank.
Next users need to enable the “On-device payment” option or the “UPI Lite” option on their UPI app. Accept the terms and conditions and transfer funds up to a maximum ₹2000 from their UPI-linked bank account to their UPI Lite wallet.
Note, that it is also said that as these UPI Lite transactions do not need an internet connection and neither a UPI Pin (for up to ₹200 transactions) it is recommended to use your UPI-bank account linked phone number while making the payment as these transactions may use certain cryptic codes present in the SIM cards to facilitate the payment.
