In February this year, YouTube announced hitting the 100M paid subscribers mark for its YouTube Premium service. The tech giant also generated a revenue well over $15 billion. With India becoming a major attraction for the OTT market in the coming years, several video streaming platforms are now jumping on the bandwagon to capture the largest slice of the market share.
In a similar effort (it seems), YouTube has now hiked the YT Premium plan’s prices across the board. This means from the cheapest YT Premium Student plan to the most expensive YT Premium Family plan, all will now be priced a bit higher than before.
Interestingly this news seems to have come around when Airtel said to shut down Wynk Music, soon after Gaana was sold for only 25 Lakhs.
So this was all about sharing all that we know so far about the YT Premium Hike.
One more thing that is worth noting is that YouTube shares a portion of YT membership revenue with creators (creators earn some extra revenue for the number of Premium members who have watched their content) so this move might help them in some way?:) share your thoughts below.
