Zomato has announced the launch of a new app called "District" aimed at expanding its services beyond food delivery and quick commerce. This app will serve as a comprehensive platform for various "going-out" activities, including dining, movies, sports ticketing, live performances, shopping, and staycations. The District App by Zomato is now Live!

This initiative is expected to be Zomato's third major B2C business, following its success in food delivery and quick commerce with Blinkit. Zomato’s going-out business currently includes dining-out and Zomato Live verticals.
CEO Deepinder Goyal highlighted that Zomato's dining-out business is already operating at a profitable rate of over $500 million in annualized Gross Order Value (GOV). The District app aims to consolidate and enhance these services, offering users a seamless experience for all their out-of-home needs.
Zomato’s CFO Akshant Goyal said, “We’re planning to launch District as a separate app and brand. It’s going to be pretty much like how we built Blinkit, but making sure that we keep our cost of customer acquisition lower using the traffic that we have on the Zomato app”.
The move positions Zomato to compete with platforms like BookMyShow and potentially acquire Paytm's movies and ticketing business to strengthen its offerings.
