Well after posting my first ever deal from Amazon, people are continuously asking the same and same question every time they come through a new post related to Amazon. So, I thought maybe why not just make a page regarding buying from Amazon. I will be discussing only products you can buy through Amazon Global. All other sellers dont include tax which happens to be too much. So, here it goes.
Basically you can know in three ways about the eligible products.
First way is to search for the product you are interested in on Amazon’s search box and add it to your cart. You’ll be asked to sign-in to your Amazon account. In the next screen, you will see if that product is eligible for AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping or not. There if any import duties will be given,it will be shown in your cart.
Second WayBut the issue is, not all products are eligible for Global shipping. So, I’d suggest you to search for the category of the product, rather than the specific brand. For example, instead of searching for Nikon D3100, search for DSLR and then click on the department Camera & Photo on top left, and finally the “Amazon Global Eligible” link below International Shipping on left sidebar. This will list all the eligible products under that category. Hence makes it easier for you to find the product you might like to purchase under AmazonGlobal Saver Shipping program.
You can repeat the process for different category of products or even for different models of a specific brand.
Third Way Use this extension.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/does-...
After installing, something like this will appear on every product’s page of Amazon.
Click there. Select country as India from dropdown and then click check shipping. After that it will show a list like this.
Just check under the name in the list if “AMAZON” is mentioned or not. If not then the product is not eligible for “Amazon Global”.
And the best thing about this extension is it tells you final price from all sellers sorting it in ascending order. So, if you wanna really buy something you can opt for other sellers. But, in that case you have to deal with Customs on your own.
Well, if a product is eligible for Amazon Global(which basically means Amazon has this item in their warehouse and can ship this item by themself) then you have a choice of Free Shipping for cart value above 125$ and for cart value below 125$ you can expect a shipping cost ranging from 3$ to 30$ depending on the item you have in your cart.

This is he best thing regarding Amazon Global. They charge an extra Import duty in shopping cart which makes it easier for us, receiving hassle free our product. This charge also depends on what is your item. But, this is most of the times less than what you will pay in India to customs.
Blasting info Guys
If the import duties paid by the courier guys are less than what you paid. You will be refunded the difference back to your bank account automatically which you used to order but this may take a month or so.
So, for products below 200 $ you can buy now at a much cheaper rate and even at the price of US by making the cart above 125$ and selecting free global shipping and then getting all the import fees back.
If its more than what you paid, you wont have to pay anything. Amazon will bear it.

Well I contacted Amazon after one dimer’s random complain and I got it sorted out. Every single bit of it. Here is the summary :-
1.Products which are listed under Amazon Global and if those are available in your country from the same manufacturer then the manufacturer can never reject the warranty. That means you will be getting International Warranty.
2.For products like you mentioned graphics card and those which are not supplied in our country, for those if any damage occurs you have to return it back to Amazon.
You will get it repaired or your full refund if its still under warranty.
3.And, about the shipping part. If the problem occurred from your side, mishandling the product then the shipping cost will not be refunded. But, if the product got stuck(stopped working) on its own then you will get your full refund on shipping cost in which case you have to send the scan of original bill you paid to courier guy.
I think after this, it should be clear that in no way you are stuck with any product until and unless you [Removed] that up yourself in which case no one is going to give you refund of your shipping cost.
If someone has any doubts feel free to pm me and I can send him the chat transcript I had with Amazon CC.

Well its for some obvious reasons
1. Products are available at a much cheaper rate than India. Save Money.
2. Quality of the product is outstanding against what you will get in India.(This is applicable mostly for Shoes clothes and all)
3. Guarantee that the product will be shipped to you according to the plan you choose. Not like Snapdeal and others keeping you hanging around for no reason. If the courier company fails to deliver, you just file a complaint and another item will be on its way the next working day and with highest priority.
If anyone wants to add something in this, just comment and I will add.

Still I am not sure whether adding the card details on a international site is safe or not as the extra security (3D etc) won’t work there.
Any other medium to pay? Can we pay using paypal? If yes, then how?
You can delete your card information afterwards. I did that.
And i believe amazon is as safe as paypal.

WD hard disk 2TB and Sansa music player

Who should be the seller and where I can check it on product page?
Should it be “Amazon.com” or “Amazon Prime” or “Amazon Global” ?
1st search for whatever you want to buy, say hdd, they are under Shop by department- Computer part – Hard drives. now on left panel you’ll see International Shipping AmazonGlobal option just click that and the items on next pages are shipped to India by seller “Amazon”. For $125 or above item may qualify for free shipping if its not bulky or heavy. Tax and customs are collected I advance. Any extra custom is paid by DHL or Aramex on Amazon behalf and if customs are less to what you deposited the amount is refunded in 60 days.
Suppose you buy something that has manufacturing defects then what you will do? In case, we need to ship it back to Amazon repository then who will bear this heavy shipping charges?
Hi,
I want to purchase this product:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0006AAS4M/ref…
Till the payment page where we need to fill the card details it shows 83.49USD only. It does not show any thing about Shipping and Import Fee details. Is it the case or I am making some mistake?

Items: $85.90
Shipping & handling: $9.98
Promotion Applied: -$6.35
Total before tax: $89.53
Estimated tax to be collected: $0.00
Import Fees Deposit $25.41
Total: $114.94
I got refund on import duty which is showing as promotion applied $6.35. you will have to pay this and your final amount will be 121.29.
you have to go to 2nd last page just before it asks to confirm the order to see the price and can delete cart for there itself. even if you confirm you can cancel order anytime before it is shipped, amazon is much much better to Indian counterparts, they refund instantly which reflects in card in 3-4 days minimum.
Anyone order stuff from Amazon.com and get a refund on the import duties?

I have a friend in the US who is coming back to India soon. Is there any way I can reduce the price of the product further? Any tricks/coupons? I am planning to buy the product from here using my debit card and deliver it to his place. OR will it be easy and cheaper him buying it there? He’ll start back in a fortnight. Can anyone help in this?

it’ll be cheaper for him. you’ve to pay higher exchange rates and commission on exchanging Indian rupee to US dollar. right now it must be around rs 62.5-63 per dollar amazon will charge you. you can save this 150 odd rupees if your friend purchases it.
Did you mark your items a gift?
How much is the price difference between Amazon/Ebay Global shipping and packet forwarding services?

depends upon what you buy. a tv for example will cost cheap using amazon or global ebay whereas a mobile can be cheaper if used freight forwarders.

Can the cart have multiple products?
If it is, is this offer available only for limited period?
:P
Actually, the “FREE” Global Shipping thing is completely false ! It only applies if your default shipping address is in Mexico or Singapore ! Does not apply to India at all ! See the link below :

it was when post was made. amazon changed it last year for India and countries like Venezuela and Brazil. Mexico or Singapore as you said now only countries left that enjoys free shipping. also free shipping was not available earlier also on items above certain weight and fragile nature. anyways one can easily claim shipping fee refund as most items are shipped through aramex which arrives after expected delivery date.
Thanks a lot for the post buddy. Really useful.
