The general guideline of "don't use more than 30% of the credit limit to improve cibil score."
Is this guideline is each individual card or the overall credit limit from all the cards ?
I found an article on bankbazaar which seems to suggest, if incase one exceeds this 30% on 1 particular card, try to adjust the utilization from other card ie. don't use other card so overall credit utilization is still under 30%.
Reason I ask is I am trying to improve my credit score since I will be getting a HL soon-ish, my sbi card limit is extremely low and I use almost 80% of it every month and my other cards with limit of 6L is hardly used.

Does underutilization also affect the CIBIL score?
No it doesn't. At worst, your credit score will be the same for a while.
Below 30% per card. I've had a few points knocked off when I went above 30% on one card but kept the overall rate lower than 30%.
So spread your spending over other cards or pay back before the end of the month you made the transaction in to lower your utilization rate.(works I used to do it with my low limit card)
Both, per card and overall.
Pay your bill in advance before your bank's cibil reporting date. Simple !
Your utilisation will always be under 1% by doing this and CIBIL will fire up
