I think Rs.50/GB rate was based on the base data tariff of 5piase/MB.
Back of the sim card pouch also mentions the same but nothing has been confirmed as of now by Jio as far as ‘pay as you go’ plan is concerned.
I think heard Mukesh said it in the AGM meeting video too.
Had a very busy day at work today. Just came across the news of Jio launch. I’m very pleased to say the least. if i remember correctly, it was Reliance who launched the concept of free incoming in India back in early 2000’s. Finally an operator got rid of roaming charges ( Both incoming & outgoing). After all the hype, i wished Jio added more data on their plans. They could have easily given 8 GB in 499 plan and 20 GB in 999 plan. That would have been a great offer.
I don’t know if i should laugh or feel sorry for existing operators such as Airtel who would be loosing so many customers in the next few months. Welcome offer from Jio which starts from 5th September will be a huge blow for AVOID group. Most people will keep AVOID sims as secondary SIMS and will be happy to use free JIO services.
Jio’s plans are designed to attract high ARPU customer’s. I’m sure by this time next year, JIO’s ARPU will at-least be 70-80% more than incumbents .

Yes, thats the same Free Jio wifi i am talking about. They are going to tie it with Jio numbers and will be billing as per the tariffs they mentioned in that sheet
Again I don’t see how that’s possible, since they’ve collaborated with local & state governments to create these public wifi hotpots, they can’t simply turn them over for billing. That’s not how it works, same goes for public wifi at railway stations, Google can’t make money of them commercially by charging existing freeloaders.
Tie up with the Airports and local Govt only required then to provide 30 minutes of free access. Beyond that, they can charge.

guys have a question
Jio MNP is starting from 5th too
i have 3g phone Galaxy Note 3
if i mnp my main number to jio can i use it for calls and sms ?
no need for net as i already have jiofi device and not so much needed in mobile
currently on vodafone 899 plan :/
DO not MNP your primary number right now. There are bound to be inter connectivit problems as AVOID will fight back.

There are relationship managers of SBI capsec and this guy keeps sending short term calls to my dad’s mail. Yesterday at 11.30 he has sent a mail to buy idea put options and was spot on. 2 mins of silence to all those who bought idea at around 100 when the rumors of merger came out. (they bought the rumor but not sure if they sold the news or held on to it expecting more rumors )
I was expecting this so had already sold off in futures all three. Today squared up. God save AVOID

Lakhs of people (even crores) entering a network is going to create congestion & I think Jio is not at all prepared for this.Only time will tell.
I will keep AVOID as primary for some more time, test JIO & then decide.
I am still having old MTS postpaid data plan on CDMA Rev.B dongle. 40 GB for 999+tax/mth. These rates are higher than that. The data speeds of Jio have already come down in my experience, soon it may be even less than MTS. Now I understand why RCom CDMA was closed and shifted to 4G and data costs increased 4-5 times. Otherwise, Jio would not be able to sustain as CDMA data was and is much cheaper.

You’re just copy pasting this from one of the replies here or you might have read it somewhere else. I’ve used JIOnet for almost a year now, at a stretch for an hour at least & have never been billed btw how can JIO bill you for free wifi when you’re running on someone else’s prepaid connection?
@dev007 wrote:I understand some of what you’re saying now, the free JIO wifi (public?) hotspots will be used to serve data via the plans that they’ve advertised. The same 8/20/60/150 GB et al. This will decrease the load on their cellular network whilst monetizing their investment in public wifi hotspots, what I (still) don’t understand is how the rest of the users can keep on using free JIOnet but I guess that maybe heavily restricted going forward & no you still can’t charge the public for free wifi, as others have suggested.

It was almost certain that RJIO won’t go for insane data pricing and we shouldn’t even expect that. For all us heavy data users its the broadband after the “honeymoon” period is over. For those who can’t get a good broadband connection and if BSNL 3g works you definitely have a 1100 unlimited plan.
By seeing JIo plans, the BSNL 3G Unlimited Plan will be discontinued soon.

Honestly I didn’t know Vertu, wiki’ed it and found this
Vertu phones have been described as “tasteless trash” by Wired Magazine
P.S. Hope you did not sell your kidney

Waste tariff offers as JIO Hotspot data would be of no use @ Home…
Secondly there is no unlimited plans as we were expecting from Reliance JIO..
In Rs.500 i was expecting atleast 20-25GB instead they are offering 4GB only
10gb data @ Rs.1000, mazak hai kya bhai, and Wifi data kon use karega malls, stations par jaa kar
I don’t know whether i was expecting big or what, but i have been enjoying Rs.5-15 a GB for more than two years now and JIO pricing isn’t any good for DATA users……

With the plans launched by RJio, people can just buy 1 Jio sim for the entire household.
As there are unlimited calls/sms/roaming included in the plans, everyone in the family can have a separate sim and use a Jio sim as a common (landline type) phone for voice and Jio apps.
Well since calls & SMS are free, it means that they’ll be counted against your data balance, after 2016, so it’s not feasible without a good amount of GB’s in your account.
I and many others have explained about this previously. Even though the call uses data tech (Volte) they won’t deduct it from your primary data balance (In plain words, you can use your complete data without any deductions)
Does the same concept apply for apps like JioPlay and JioOnDemand? CC @thrifty_indian @NavneetP.S. Please say yes so I can also get rid of my DTH connections.
There would be more offers, wait till Jan 2017
3GB (28 days) @299 would be better than 2GB +4gb @299, this 4GB is totally waste – atleast for me as I am not supposed to hun for public wifi. I doubt any one will use jio Net.

It won’t make any sense, tweet JIO for this and ask them to bring plans with all data combined

You got unlimited Jionet Wifi data because it is still in trial period. Post Dec 2016, your free data will be restricted to your plan quota. Public Wi-fi hotspots does not mean free and it is not someone else’s prepaid connection. Although there might be some free wi-fi hotspots in certain places or during certain events (like IPL) but it will not be entirely free. Most of the free wi-fi hotspots are either time-limited or data limited or sometimes both. Even wi-fi at railway stations is not going to be fully free when the project is completed. Railtel/Google had already mentioned this but it may take few more years before they start charging considering that Facebook has also shown interest.
