Dear Cardholder,

This is to inform you that Reward Points accrued on transactions eligible for Instant Discount and Cashback offers will be forfeited as per T&Cs of the Offer Program. Reward points will be forfeited for all transactions done during offer period and considered for Offer computation.

In case a cardholder does not have adequate Reward Points balance at the time of forfeiture, an amount equal to the deficit in the Reward Points will be debited from his / her credit card account.

In case of any other query, would request you to please contact the SBI Card Helpline at 39 02 02 02 (prefix local STD code) or 1860 180 1290.

Warm regards,
SBI Card

OMG.. they took out 500+90 rs and 659 rewards for my flipkart transactions in the offer period.. cheap move by SBI ..

And those were my relatives transactions.. already gave them as discount..

Hope they didn't do it with cashback card.. otherwise it will change all my calculations for discount

That is why I never consider RPs/cb when giving card to friends/relatives for sale offers. Keep it simple, give your card & ask friend/relative to pay whatever amt is showing after instant discount.

Request all concerned to raise complain through their app, portal or email and escalate to the topmost officer. Why should a customer suffer for their mistake. All they provide is RPs/vouchers for most cards and now debit cash in return, which is totally unacceptable.

Some said cashback card being debited too, I am still waiting for my debit to happen though. Just worried that it should be the 5% CB reversal rather than 10% instant discount.
If SBI started debiting cashback/RPs for a particular sale period, they should've done it for all (Instant discount is settled the moment transaction is done / order gets delivered. No way, card issuers can deduct equivalent RPs / statement credit for a discount offered by them + shopping site, this contradicts their forfeit terms too),
Like Vasstav mentioned, these debits could be linked to Flipkart or some other site (not amazon) but if they did for amazon transactions too (Sale period ones*) then its gonna be very easy to get back the RPs + compensation through Ombudsman

I received this RP forfeit mail on September 27th but that doesn’t have any date from when this rule start so technically they should not deduct anything on transactions done till September 27th as they have to notify customer before changing their terms??

If these are offer specific terms then there's no need to notify the users, every sale tnc got its own inclusions and exclusions. They can even deduct RPs/Cashback for August month transaction (based on what i know, this all started with Amazon's Great Indian Festival (Sep 22 to Oct 3). So, if your transactions happened on flipkart or some other site where cashback card wasn't in exclusion list + Forfeiting rewards (offer terms) then nothing can be done

As per Rewards Terms & Conditions, Reward points accrued on offer eligible transactions done between 22 Sept’22 to 03 Oct’22 will be forfeited. Reward points will be forfeited for all transactions done during this offer period and considered for Offer computation. At the time of forfeiture in case the Cardholder has inadequate Reward Point balance, then an amount equivalent to Reward Points to be Forfeited will be debited from the Cardholder’s account.

Edit: Found the same terms for SBI's 10% offer on Flipkart (Oct 10 to 16,2022).May be they can even deduct them if they want to, citing that these transactions were eligible for 10% instant discount)

It is open to all legal residents of India holding a valid and current SBI/Tata Credit Card excluding SBI/Tata Corporate Credit Card, SBI Paytm Cobrand Card and SBI Cashback card (“Cardholder”). The Validity of the Offer (“Offer Duration”) is from 11 Oct 2022 (00:00 hrs) expiring on 16 Oct 2022 (23:59 hrs)

As per Rewards Terms & Conditions, Reward points accrued on offer eligible transactions during (“Offer Duration”) will be forfeited. Reward points will be forfeited for all transactions done during this offer period and considered for Offer computation. At the time of forfeiture in case the Cardholder has inadequate Reward Point balance, then an amount equivalent to Reward Points to be Forfeited will be debited from the Cardholder’s account.

How to confirm for which transactions they are deducting?? Looks like we’ll have to wait until deductions are done than calculate ourselves

Its all there since the beginning. This is enough for SBI to defend all the deductions (Transactions made from Sep 22,22)

Reward Points accrued on transactions eligible for Instant Discount and Cashback offers will be forfeited , for offers starting 7 Oct'22 onwards or as per Program T & C

Yes, quarter ends today, so these actions are meant to improve Q3 results, stock price might get high when results declared, will make up for the CB lost easily... 😀

This may improve quarterly result. But it can majorly impact on earning though transaction done in every sale. Most of the users like me might be thinking of closing the SBI cards.

And I intend to sell my holding after Q3 results pocketing some gains that will easily make up for CB losses, also feel further sales would be affected by this move in subsequent quarters as you just pointed out, so will completely exit my holding...

Because it is sbi card so no way to know details other than raise a complaint & hope the customer support give the details after 1-2 escalations & 1-2 weeks of waiting.
