Dear Cardholder,

This is to inform you that Reward Points accrued on transactions eligible for Instant Discount and Cashback offers will be forfeited as per T&Cs of the Offer Program. Reward points will be forfeited for all transactions done during offer period and considered for Offer computation.

In case a cardholder does not have adequate Reward Points balance at the time of forfeiture, an amount equal to the deficit in the Reward Points will be debited from his / her credit card account.

In case of any other query, would request you to please contact the SBI Card Helpline at 39 02 02 02 (prefix local STD code) or 1860 180 1290.

Warm regards,
SBI Card

OMG.. they took out 500+90 rs and 659 rewards for my flipkart transactions in the offer period.. cheap move by SBI ..

And those were my relatives transactions.. already gave them as discount..

Hope they didn't do it with cashback card.. otherwise it will change all my calculations for discount

That is why I never consider RPs/cb when giving card to friends/relatives for sale offers. Keep it simple, give your card & ask friend/relative to pay whatever amt is showing after instant discount.

Request all concerned to raise complain through their app, portal or email and escalate to the topmost officer. Why should a customer suffer for their mistake. All they provide is RPs/vouchers for most cards and now debit cash in return, which is totally unacceptable.

This is a total mess by SBI. Why did they give reward points for such transactions in the first place ? Good strategy to earn Cash from bank's end.

@akki.akki On simplysave card there was a deduction of Rs.47 for 10% sbi instant discount sale on flipkart so still basically no loss for me. Good thing I decided to not use amazon/sbi combo gis sale & relied on fk bbd sale/axis/icici combo mainly. smile

Yes, good to keep the change than regret later posing the "discount man" for external/3rd party transactions, I keep RPs for myself in such cases...

But for sbi cashback card , they are deducting the 10% of discount which they offered by mistake

If it was so easy then every defaulter would have closed their card without any worries. You are free to give request to close the card but it is credit card company's right to decide whether to give you NOC/statement saying no pending/due charges after closing the card & the same will be reported to cibil.

Then it is bad luck & a lesson for future never to assume that exploiting a loophole will not result in any issues.

Bro nobody’s going to default here i was just saying if someone pays his outstanding whether billed or unbilled and has 0 liability to credit card issuer at that time than what will happen??

Zero liability is decided by card issuer not you. If you close your sbi cb card today & tomorrow sbi card system decide to take back instant discount given on card then as per sbi card you don't have zero liability so until you pay that amt you won't get NOC even if you give request to close the card & sbi card will report this "mistakenly given instant discount" as "due not paid" to cibil.

@Knight11 @Demondealer heavy drivers what's your status on sbi cashback card?

@demerius2020

I didn't use sbi cashback in any of the sales offer.

Just once, I did in September for 4K transaction (probably 10% was applied on this). I got 300 Amazon cashback. Later, I cancelled it l, as price reduced by 1k next day. I got back 3700 in card and points for 3700 were reversed at that time itself (obviously whatever instant discount was there, that also didn't count).

So, it was like i bought 300 Amazon voucher.

So far no points/cb reversal or any charges for me. I don't think they will do double reversal or think about those 300 rupees😅.

I think Amazon itself must be reporting the discounts offered and asking bank to pay. So in my case, as order was cancelled, Amazon won't ask anything.

Even after card closure the account remains active for few months, so that refunds or debits can be adjusted.
In this scenario, if the dues are not paid (even though the card was closed) penalties will apply and CIBIL will take a hit.

For those whose cb/points deducted for txns done before 7th oct @Vaastav posted a screenshot of their original T&C which they later changed which is more than enough for those affected to get a successful resolution by complaining about this to rbi ombudsman. One member here actually won 5k compensation from axis bank for refusing his application for ltf card when same card was available as paid in his bank acc pre-approved offer.

These were the terms SBI Put Earlier. The First Sale Where discount was applicable was before 7th Oct. This and the terms of Amazon mentioning no discount Applicable on SBI Cashback Card should be enough to Raise a Case in RBI Ombudsman if SBI tries to do something Stupid. Which I'm 100% Sure they won't.
These are generic terms. Amazon's SBI offer for September (First sale) had this RP forfeiting thing clearly mentioned under the offer terms so no point in approaching RBI Ombudsman. In the end, specific offer terms matter and may be this is the reason SBI got the Oct 7 reference removed

https://www.sbicard.com/en/personal/offer/amazo...

Even Under this Specific Offer it's Clearly written :-

  • Offer not valid on Corporate Cards, Cashback Card and Paytm SBI Credit Card

Maybe That's the reason there is no deductions on SBI Cashback Card For Transactions done on Amazon as it is directly contradicting their terms as they have just excluded the card.

If someone Cashback has been deducted from SBI Cashback Card, Can they Confirm If it's for transaction on Amazon or Flipkart?? And What's the date of their transaction??

Yes. Sbi seem to have forfeited RP/Cashback for all card variants (starting from first big sale in September) except for cashback card

Some said cashback card being debited too, I am still waiting for my debit to happen though. Just worried that it should be the 5% CB reversal rather than 10% instant discount.
