Soon after the recent launch of affordable Jio Fiber plans, Airtel Xstream Fiber came up with its revamped plans. Both the companies are offering unlimited broadband internet plans and limitless calling in the similar price range. Take a note that unlimited internet here means 3300 GB of maximum data usage per month as per the commercial usage policy. Airtel Xstream Fiber provides automatically adjustable upload & download speeds whereas Jio Fiber gives symmetrical speeds. Thus, both work on a different mechanism. They also provide you with a 4K set top box, wifi router, and a voice controlled remote. Now, let's compare their plan offerings to check out on who emerges as the winner.

You won’t get any channels. Channels are going to disappear. You will have to search your content and watch. Everything will change. It will be frustrating in beginning that you can’t change channels that easily. But slowly it will teach you how to be patient. Slow apps, bad boxes, slow speed etc will give you less time to watch tv. Eventually it will be good for you.

Airtel gives 10% more speed than promised so expect speed around 50mbps for 40mbps plan. Also jio have privacy issues like they use their own DNS, locked bridge mode, CGNAT, bad routing especially for places outside India, Deep Packet Inspection(10% of jio is owned by facebook so makes sense), less speed than plan.

I am using Jio Fiber in delhi ncr, had 6 month silver plan 899 recharged for 100 mbps speed, which they recently upgraded to 150 mbps unlimited plan. But bad part speed is reduced, now i get hardly 20-25 mbps when sitting just next to router.

Does Jio Fiber provides 4k set top box for plans of Rs. 399 and Rs. 799?

I currently have ACT Fibernet connection and the uplink and downlink speeds remain symmetric and constant most of the time and data consumption count is logged genuinely.
I had taken the Jio Fiber connection last year when it was a free trial connection. Their uplink and downlink speed remained a tad inconsistent and the data consumption is throttled and logged as more bytes consumed for similar activity compared to ACT.
The Airtel plans look good and the prices mentioned are inclusive of GST. Airtel’s speeds are mentioned ‘up to xxxMbps’ which means do their uplink and downlink speeds remain symmetric constant or be varying? Also would like to know if their data consumption logging remains close to genuine?

Got my Airtel DSL migrated to Xtreme Fiber today. Getting pretty good speeds… I am on 40mbps plan 499…

Getting….

~48Mbps download
~45Mbps upload
pings @ 7ms

I got Nokia router G-140W-F which is much better than JIO router in terms of range. Will test out more in coming days… So far firmware also seems to have more features than JIO router….

The best part of Airtel fiber is that they provide much more throughput that anyone else. Even on 40 Mbps you get around 48 Mbps. That’s good to know.

Don’t ever go with Airtel DTH Plan. Please stick with Jio only. They screwed up the issue and Xstream Box is waste product. They don’t allow to stream Zee TV show from mobile to devices. It doesn’t support Google Mini.

When I took connection I paid 6100 for six months 100
Mbps unlimited ( plans have changed now) that included Nokia Dual band router free. I still paid 1 k extra for install as mine a LCO city. Some terms and conditions has changed now opting for one month plan will cost you more.

And they never cross the marked speed, ie the throughput is less. I get 20 Mbps more on 100 Mbps plan. So like and dislike depends on ones prospective. My cousin have Jio fiber his fiber broke and they took 10 days to repair the wire.

Deal Cadet Deal Cadet

The problem with airtel is in the name of optical fibre in many area they are still giving low speed as they are using copper wire instead of fibre.

In my city its Airtel fiber only no copper. New cities being launched are with fiber only.

In case of Airtel, prime and zee5 subscriptions are valid only if you have XStream DTH box and the OTT apps on XStream box can be accessed only when you have a working plan on the XStream DTH box. So is Airtel broadband really better for people who don’t have Airtel DTH connection?

Railwire is best. I’m using it in West Bengal.
Plans – FTTH
349
700GB
25Mbps
1 month extra recharge if you do for 6 months
Above rates exclusive of tax.

So if you are in West Bengal don’t go for Airtel or Jio. Go for Railwire. Speeds are truly symmetrical and does not drop

I am in Kothrud area of Pune. Jio plan is not in my area. I have airtel Xstream 999 plan. And it’s bad for working from home. Upload speed Is also important for Working from home. And airtel offers 512kbps. Hathway on the other hand gives me 5mbps upload speed too.

I have been using airtel vfiber for more than a year. Downtime is hardly 15min. I made a mistake of switching to jio from airtel for mobile. I regretted it later and switched back to airtel. As of now I hold 999+299 extra plan. Good thing is I don’t need to pay 299 extra going forward. Let them keep 1999 for same 999 plan. I’m OK to pay. Reliability matters than cheap prices to me
