How to Book Train Tickets at 20% Discount? Diwali Festive Scheme

Festival season is around the corner and it’s that time of the year when millions of people visit their native places or do pilgrimage visits or even go on tours. Whatever be the reason, the good news is Indian Railways (IR) has announced a 20% discount on IRCTC trains return fares during the Diwali festive season. In this article, we’ll help you learn how to book IRCTC train tickets at 20% discount using the RailOne app under the Round Trip Package for Festival scheme.

Ministry of Railways on August 8th, 2025 made a press release stating the following:

“Good News For People Who Wish to Avail 5 Week Break From Work with Family During Diwali & Chhath Vacations. Railway Launches 20% Rebate on Base Fare of Return Journey For a Round Trip Package to Spread Out Crowd.”

In this article, we’ll help you understand the following points:

• Offer date and validity of the Indian Railways 20% discount on round trip package scheme

• How to book train tickets on RailOne app at 20% discount

.

1. If you book both onward (Oct 13–26, 2025) and return (Nov 17–Dec 1, 2025) tickets together, you’ll get 20% off on the base fare of the return ticket.

2. The same passengers, same route, and same class must be booked for both journeys.

3. Bookings open from 14th August 2025, and only confirmed tickets are allowed.

4. The usual 60-day advance booking rule won’t apply for the return trip under this scheme.

5. No refunds, modifications, or extra discounts will be allowed on these tickets.

6. The offer applies on all trains and classes (including special trains) but not on Flexi fare trains.

7. Advance reservation period (60 days) does not apply for the return trip under this offer.

Also note that no refunds are allowed so only book the tickets if you are sure of travelling.

Follow the steps below to book tickets via the RailOne app at 20% discount during the Diwali festival season:

1. Install and open the RailOne app

2. Sign up or Log in with either your registered number or UTS app or Rail Connect

3. On the homepage, find the offer banner saying “avail festive package”

4. Click on “Get discount on booking of return ticket”

5. Submit From-To station, Departure date, Quota and proceed with booking.

6. Add passenger(s) and proceed to payment (R-wallet, UPI, card payments)

7. After completing the booking process, users are provided with a Booking Confirmation page with details of PNR booked.

8. On the same page click on “Book Return Ticket”

9. Make sure the return journey dates are between 17 Nov – 1 Dec 2025

10. The tickets shall be for the same class and same O-D pair for both onward and return journey.

11. Passenger details of the return journey will be the same as of onward journey.

12. Users will get a 20% discount on the base fare of the return ticket.

13. After successful payment, your tickets will be booked.
