Seems Unlimited 5g trials about to end
Some sources claim that Jio will keep providing free 5G internet till it covers entire India with its 5G network, which will likely happen by the 2nd or 3rd quarter of 2024.
dexter_greycells wrote:Yes, Air Fiber would surely be very helpful. But, in terms of actual usage, I personally have experienced that even though Airtel is a bit costlier than Jio, its internet speeds are much superior. That's what I have experienced with Jio Fiber VS Airtel Fiber and mobile data too.
What I'm waiting for is the actual launch of Jio AirFiber. Airtel has launched it at ₹799 for 100 MBPS (₹733 if you consider the 6 months contract discount) with a ₹2500 device security deposit in Mumbai and Delhi. Jio always tends to be 10-20% cheaper. AirFiber is a godsend for people where location / housing society rules / politics prevents cables from being laid.

Yes, if you go to Speedtest.net or download something you will immediately notice the difference in speed but in day-to-day usage, the difference is mostly imperceptible. I work in IT myself and many of my fellow-folks swear that they can't work on remote desktop without 100 MBPS whereas I seemed to get the job done just fine even on a 2 MBPS connection at one time. What most people don't realize that the appearance of "fast internet" comes from low latency and not high speeds especially in today's times when we don't download but stream.

dexter_greycells wrote:True...higher internet speeds will matter only when we download/upload something and for streaming, low latency is what we need.

Thanks a lot for you input, I got to learn something new.

Lol we might even get free 6G internet by then😂😂

We will have to wait and see what happens in the coming months.

Definitely. In 2032

I think we will get 6G way before 2032.
May be around 2030 or 2032
Because 5g is sufficient for now
Shubham021 wrote:But 5G won't be sufficient for long. With the increasing population, technology, and internet users, it's possible that we might need 6G sooner than we may think. Before getting 4G, we used to think that it will give us the best internet speeds and it would be fast enough for all of our uses. But 4G doesn't perform that well now, does it? That would be the same with 5G too. Rather than making existing networks better, these ISPs focus more on bringing the latest tech to the market, irrespective of its performance.

But companies given 2g speed in name of 4g.
They should have maintained 4g speed.
Same will happen with 5g.
And 6g too.
Population and companies will make it 2g again with costly plans.
Shubham021 wrote:Agreed...that's why we will get 6G sooner which will provide speeds equivalent to 3G at most.

Maybe we can only hope that it runs for few more months🥲

Also, there's a high chance that Airtel will continue giving free 5G internet even after Jio discontinues its free giveaway, so as to acquire a broader user base, something similar to what Jio did in 2016.

I don't think it's mature enough so that one can pay for it. I am getting 100-150 Mbps speed that too when a lot of people still doesn't have 5g phones.
Yeah hope so that might keep Jio in competition. Although have seen they usually extend these plans further till plan expiry so I still have faith in it rest nothing can be done.
