Another security update for Chrome's 2.6 billion users has been verified by Google, and this one is an emergency repair due to a zero-day vulnerability that hackers are already exploiting. Chrome version 96.0.4664.110 patches a total of five vulnerabilities, four of which are high-rated and one of which is critical. One of the four high-rated flaws allows attackers to target Chrome's JavaScript engine and run code on a target computer.

Google Chrome browser UPDATE

Individuals who use the Google Chrome browser have been issued a 'high severity warning by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), a part of the IT ministry. The attack could allow access to the compromised system's personal data. Furthermore, hackers can use this method to inject malware onto the system, allowing it to be further hacked.

Users running Android 9, Android 10, Android 11, and Android 12 as well as Windows and Linux users using Chrome are all subject to the high severity alert. There isn't much more to say about the technical intricacies of this ‘reserved' vulnerability at the moment. This isn't unusual, since Google usually withholds such information until the bulk of customers have had a chance to install the security update.

How to Update Google Chrome?

Google Chrome can automatically update when a new version of the browser is available on your device to ensure you're protected by the latest security patches. You might notice that your browser appears different after these upgrades.

  • If you can't find this button, you're on the latest version.

Step 5 – Click Relaunch.

  2. CVE-2021-4099: Rated high, a use after free vulnerability in Swifts Hader.

  3. CVE-2021-4100: Rated high, an object lifecycle issue in ANGLE.

  4. CVE-2021-4101: Rated high, a heap buffer overflow vulnerability in Swifts Hader.

  5. CVE-2021-4102, the high-rated use after free vulnerability in the V8 engine for which an exploit has already been seen in the wild.

The update may take a few days to reach everyone, so please be patient if you haven't seen it yet. Also, remember to restart your browser after installing the update, otherwise, the update will not activate, leaving you open to attack.

Chrome is common and hackers have to hack this regularly. Update regularly is only key.
