avl for 200 euros…
If a cooler will serve your purpose have a look at the same. It will cost in the range 5K and has a running cost of 1/10 of an a/c. Makes a lot of noise though and needs water. I stayed for many years in Kolkata and due to humidity no coolers worked there. Used 4 a/cs there – videocon, whirlpool, voltas and himgiri(local brand) → videocon was the worst, himgiri had the best cooling, voltas the most silent, whirlpool the most used with gas leakage happening 2 times over 5 years and had the best overall performance. Now I am in Gurgaon and have 1 hitachi and 1 carrier window a/c. Cooling is good for both and no service needed so far. Last year bought a cooler as my wife was complaining of the heat in kitchen and living room area. Very happy with cooler performance except the noise. An ac costs around 75 rs per night in electricity bill while a cooler around 10 rs/day even though we use the cooler throughout the day and ac at night. Anyway the worst of summers is yet to come.

http://www.snapdeal.com/product/panasonic-cscuz…
u can go for this…
u can get it even lower price @ India times using SUMMERSPECAL coupon + 6 months EMI. But their delivery time is too long..
with snapdeal u can get 6 month 0%EMI and faster delivery..
Very positive feedback for this model in aspect of cooling.. and price..
u can get a split a/c in the price of window a/c.. 3 star rating..
If I need to buy an A/C now I will go for this..
reviews here
http://www.flipkart.com/panasonic-cube-1-5-tons…
but this is for an older 2 star rating model ..
http://www.mouthshut.com/review/General-Advice-…
videos here
may be in local shops u can get even lower price..
Though it is 3 Star you can still save power as it cools faster than any other window or Split A/C
With my recommendation my friend is going to buy this A/C this weekend (he s impressed).. Will update later..
I strongly suggest you to buy offline as it is cheaper than online and installation will be done with in 2 to 3 days.
Daikin FTE35M I’m offered @ Rs 26000(1 Ton) and FTE50M offered @ Rs 31225(1.5 Ton) and these two are 3 star ACS. Online prices differ by at least 2000.

For 2K more, one can get Daikin 1.5 Ton 5 star ac
anyone has an inverter technology a/c does it actually cut electricity usage in half over the long term by unloading and in so preventing cut in/cut out of the compressor.
sounds logical but want to know if its actually a cut in electricity usage. If so they way electricity prices are going I want to calculate if its worth spending on a inverter a/c and see if it works out cheaper in the long run of five years.
explanation being if the a/c is at capacity or under capacity for the volume of space to be cooled it would run at full power to cool the intended space so there would be no chance of the compressor speed decreasing, it is already struggling to cool and hence has to run at full speed/power hence no use of inverter technology, in such cases over time the inverter a/c works out 10% more expensive than traditional a/c
hope other dimers find this info useful don’t believe the bullshit salesman tell you like “saab inverter a/c mein apka 50% bijlee ka kharcha bachta hai” there’s a reason they are salesman and thats because they have to make the most profit from your purchase

Bro does the star rating actually make any differnce in electricity consumption? is there a significant saving?

Found the answer and its “not necessarily” it would only reduc electricity consumption if the a/c is a little over capacity for the volume of space to be cooled and for how long it runs per day

Thanks thumsup regarding the consumption thing, I read the difference here → http://www.desidime.com/forums/dost-and-dimes/t...
So any views of inverter vs non-inverter wala, which one seems to more efficient
