Union communications and information technology minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday said,

“We are planning to roll out 5G services rapidly, telecom operators are working in that regard & installations are being done. Hopefully, we should be launching 5G services by October 12 and then would further scale up in cities & towns”.

He also added,

“Our expectations are that 5G should reach every part of the country in the next two to three years. We'll ensure that it remains affordable. The industry is focusing on both urban as well as rural areas,”

Earlier Prime Minister Narendra Modi also confirmed that 5G will launch soon, during his 15th Aug Independence Day speech.

This 5G rollout is happening now because The DoT has received payment of around ₹18k crores from Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, Adani Data Networks and Vodafone Idea for the spectrum they won in the recent auction. The 5G spectrum received bids worth ₹1.5 lakh crores out of which Jio had nearly half of the airwaves under its belt at ₹88k crores.

It is expected that 5G will be 10x faster than 4G. What do you think? Before going you can check Jio Phone 5G expected launch on 29 Aug, details.
