Your next Airtel recharge has just become more expensive - thanks to Airtel discontinuing select recharge packs for prepaid users. These discontinued Airtel recharges are Rs.299, Rs.319, Rs.579, Rs.619, Rs.649, and Rs.799. Read on to know the complete details about these recently discontinued Airtel prepaid recharges and the current, cheapest Airtel recharge plan option available right now. 

As of 12th August, Airtel has removed several prepaid recharge plans for users. The cheapest daily data unlimited monthly plan, Rs.299, offered 1gb data per day, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day benefit. Now, the next cheapest, unlimited monthly recharge plan is the ₹349 plan offering 1.5gb/day data, unlimited voice calling and 100 SMS/day benefit.

After reports and rumours of an upcoming price hike on Airtel and Jio recharges, users were expecting both the major telcos to break the news of price hike. However, instead of a direct price hike on existing recharges, telcos seem to be pushing users to shift to a higher monthly recharge value plan, possibly in an effort to increase their monthly ARPU.

Apart from these recharge packs, there are also some more Airtel recharge plans discontinued previously.

Now that the 299 recharge pack is stoned, there’s no other Airtel recharge plan that offers 1gb per day data benefits. Users will now be compelled to buy the Rs.349 plan instead that offers 1.5gb data per day.

There’s also the Rs.579 plan which was the cheapest Airtel recharge pack in the 56-days validity period. Now, the only 56-days validity recharge available is the 838 rupees plan that offers 3gb/day, unlimited 5g and unlimited voice calling. However, this again puts users who were earlier on the cheaper plan to now pay more than they needed to before.

The same is the case with several other Airtel recharges that are now discontinued. Overall, this leaves Airtel users feeling the heat of an indirect price hike by Airtel.

With the ₹299 plan discontinued, ₹349 is now the cheapest Airtel plan offering daily data, with 1.5GB/day, unlimited calling and 100 SMS/day for 28 days. However, users who don't need daily data can still opt for the ₹199 plan, which offers 2GB total data, unlimited calls and 100 SMS/day for 28 days. There’s also a ₹219 plan with 3GB total data and the same 28-day validity. So, if you need regular daily data, ₹349 is now the cheapest option.
