What is Airtel IPTV Service?

IPTV stands for Internet Protocol Television. In simple language, unlike DTH which uses satellite signals to broadcast TV channels, IPTV uses internet connection to do so. Airtel IPTV service offers live TV channels + OTT benefits both in a single plan. Currently the service is offered in 2000 cities via select Airtel Fibre plans and Airtel Black plans.

How Does Airtel IPTV Work?

Airtel IPTV plans might seem a bit complex at first but let us help you understand how Airtel IPTV works in an easy manner.

We all have used those Dish TV & those DTH setup boxes at some point right? Well, remember how during bad weather, the Dish TV signal would go for a toss? Or how when you’d once miss your favorite serial episode, there was no way to replay it, rewind or pause it?

Thanks to IPTV service, instead of satellite signals, it uses internet connection to broadcast TV channels. Thus not only TV channels can be streamed but also OTTs which was not the case with Dish TVs.

IPTV is basically a more advance version of DTH. It uses internet instead of satellite to broadcast TV channels. So you get benefits of Live TV + ability to pause, rewind, etc which earlier wasn't there in DTH tech + you get select OTT apps. So you are getting both live TV + OTT apps

you can recharge for IPTV via Airtel Black & Airtel Fiber plans (listed above).

@Vrushali.S What Jio offers with its STB is not IPTV. Jio Fiber STB is similar to Airtel Xtream box, both of which used to show live TV channels through OTT apps. IPTV is different technology which streams live Feeds of TV channels through internet. Airtel IPTV prices are different and similar to DTH with NCP.

You have mixed both in this writeup.
