The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on 14th April 2022 i.e. today have Increased the Whatsapp Pay UPI Users Limit from 4 Crore to 10 Crore. Earlier, in November 2021 it had increased the limit from 2 Crore to 4 Crore.

Currently, Google Pay, PhonePe, and Paytm are leading the UPI Payments service in India. With Tata Pay started, and now Whatsapp UPI available to many more users, it will be interesting to see how this market shapes up.
Currently, Whatsapp has around 40 Crore active users which means that 30 Crore of them still won’t be able to use Whatsapp Pay UPI. We can expect the rollout for all users by the end of this year.
We are pleased to share that we have given approval to an additional sixty (60) million users on UPI for WhatsApp.

NPCI has a UPI policy where a UPI payment service provider is allowed to do only 30% UPI transactions in any 3 month period. This is to ensure that UPI users are divided well to separate load among all the service providers.
In November 2021 when the users limit was first increased, Whatsapp UPI came up with a ₹51 Cashback offer to boost its new service. Here, users got ₹51 Cashback upto 5 times for a UPI transaction to a new user on Whatsapp. Thus, a user could earn upto ₹255. However, this offer was only for Whatsapp Beta users. You can check the latest Whatsapp UPI offers here.
We expect Whatsapp to come up with good UPI offers now with this new rollout to get along with its peers in Google Pay, PhonePe, Amazon Pay, and many others. What do you think about Whatsapp UPI? Have you got the Whatsapp UPI feature? Please do share below. You can also read our article on Whatsapp UPI Launched in India : How to use Whatsapp Pay for Sending and Receiving Money?
