Zomato has started levying ₹2 as platform fee on every order to select customers as it is currently in the testing phase. Select Zomato Gold users also compulsorily paid this platform fee irrespective of restaurant, order value, etc.

Few months back, Swiggy came up with a similar ₹2 platform fee to boost revenue and overcome losses. Zomato said, “This is in an experiment phase right now, and we may or may not scale.” Thus, it is possible that this platform fee may be eradicated because for frequent Zomato users it might be a point of concern.
Zomato started this ₹2 platform fee soon after its 1st ever quarterly profit of ₹2 crore (revenue up by 64%) for the June quarter. However, Zomato’s CFO Akshant Goyal said, “So, it’s a business call. We are aware of that and I think we’ll take a call when we think it’s right for business. At this point, we haven’t done that. There is no platform fee on our platform.”

If the company keeps on giving us amazing Zomato Coupons then this additional Rs 2 Platform Fee is worth it😜

2 mins silence for those who stopped ordering from swiggy for this reason
Hmm this is how they have become profitable first time ever..
Govt me like. 18% GST kahan h?
Le people Rs. 2 + Rs. 0.36 GST
If this fee exist in 2022 Total fee collected Rs.107 crore
They clearly are trying to reduce loss gap.
Good news for shareholders like me 🥺
