BSNL 4G launch date in India is almost here. BSNL has finally started receiving equipment from TCS and the telecom company is expected to launch its 4G services in the country by March-end or April, this year.

But wait, what 4G bands does BSNL support? BSNL was allotted the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, and 1800 MHz spectrum or the n105, n8, n5, n3 4G bands to improve its existing services.

It’s also important to note that BSNL had received a revival package of 1.64 Lakh crore last year. Mr. Purwar, the managing director and chairman of BSNL had said to bring BSNL 5G Services by August 2023 and 4G by November 2022. Though, there’s clearly a delay. However, the BSNL 4G launch date in India is finally near as the telecom company has started receiving the needed indigenous equipment from TCS as part of the BSNL TCS deal consortium.

BSNL 4G Launch Date in India

BSNL 4G Launch Date in India

BSNL customers have been long-awaiting the telecom brand to bring its 4G services in the country. Following is a timeline of the progress of the BSNL 4G Launch in India so far:

  • Last week, March 2023, BSNL deployed its first indigenous eNodeB hardware to launch 4G

  • eNodeB is a wireless base station to carry 4G communications

  • After the deployment of the same, BSNL has started to receive 4G equipment from TCS

  • These 4G equipment are part of a pre-order to pilot launch BSNL 4G

  • BSNL 4G is expected to be pilot launched in three district of the Punjab

  • The first areas in India to get BSNL 4G coverage are Ferozepur, Pathankot, and Amritsar.

It is also important to note that the approval of the complete tender of BSNL and TCS is still pending by the government and is expected to be completed soon. This pre-installation of BSNL 4G equipment will help the telecom brand to pilot launch its 4G services in the country starting from Punjab.

BSNL also is currently offering the cheapest yearly prepaid plan with 455 days validity, and 3GB data per day at only Rs.2998!

BSNL 4G Launch: First areas to get coverage

Three districts of Punjab are reportedly selected to receive BSNL 4G pilot launch service. The first three cities to get BSNL 4G are Ferozepur, Pathankot, and Amritsar. Note that the pilot launch is said to only start with these cities and as the 4G deployment progresses, the service will get available to other cities as well.

In an interview, telecom secretary K Rajaraman also said:

“This is a complicated tender because of the involvement of new technology, etc. It is not like a commodity that we can straightaway buy from the market. This is a very special tender. Therefore, people are taking all the precautions to ensure that everything is on board. We are in the final stages of evaluation.”

What 4G bands does BSNL support?

BSNL as per reports has received the following 4G bands and spectrum: 800 MHz, 900 MHz, and 1800 MHz spectrum or the n105, n8, n5, and n3 bands provide BSNL 4G in India.

This was all about the BSNL’s upcoming 4G Launch in India, supported bands, first cities to get coverage. If you are wondering about when BSNL will be launching its 5G services, here’s some news on BSNL 5G that we had covered: BSNL 5G Launch date delays to 2024

1. I personally won't mind porting from Vi to BSNL. But for Airtel, I would only port if cost is my concern.

I think if a stable connection is your major requirement, its better to wait and see how the BSNL's network performs post its 4G launch and then decide.

2. Here are the minimum recharge tariff plans for BSNL, Airtel, Jio with SMS service that I found:

For BSNL - 43rs plan for 45 days (includes SMS - please do confirm if it really supports incoming/outgoing)

Jio - 75rs plan with 23 days (only for jiophone users)
otherwise, 149rs plan with 20 days validity

Airtel - 155 for 24 days
If other dimers know of any other better minimum recharge plans apart from top-ups, please do share.

3. Pata nahi but these are only the starting areas... certainly BSNL will pilot launch the network in other cities too:)

Hope this helps

If BSNL MTNL needs to survive , its staff has to be willing to be working rather than timepass Goverment duty thinking in mind . If staff is not efficient and willing to work which can be easily seen with their attitude and STYLE and updates knowledge they don't have , even if 10 lakh crore given for revival ,it will be full waste. Staff needs to work

How it is first 4G launch?

In Andhra we have many towns with BSNL 4G coverage from the year 2018.

https://www.newindianexpress.com/states/andhra-...

Because BSNL 4G currently is available in very few areas of the country. Also, as far as I know, I think currently BSNL 4G only supports VOLTE and not LTE as the service is "upgraded" over existing 3G towers. The company now is building 4G towers that can be upgraded to 5G so hopefully, it would even provide better service than its existing 4G networks (in those very select areas). Also, this BSNL 4G launch is going to be a PAN-India one and hence it is notable.

For those reading it/ coming across it, after ages...
can consider annotating it with the year (number: 2023).

I mean, this👌🏽 is already good. But in youtube comments section I often find it a bit annoying, even frustrating.. when it says N years/ months back.

And now in DesiDime too, it is hard or perhaps not possible to find the timestamp or datestamp of a post.
Or maybe on the non mobile-site it is possible.

The formatting of the post/ article in this section of the forums/ site is a bit too confusing
OR another way of saying it would be.. that it would take exceptionally more time for an average, below average person to get used to @admin ji.

To find the name of the posting member.. in a normal topic/thread
the eyes/gaze merely needs to look sideways and/or on top of the post (depending on desktop site versus m-site. No idea of the applications).

But here, I think the closest hyperlink or profile name was after an arduous scroll down, till the end of the article.

Also, @Rosh_0007 @anthrax.ut @bumblefoot @admin I do not know if I am doing something wrong here or this is something intrinsically off, but when I tapped or clicked on to the avataar/ profile picture of @Vrushali.S ben (at the end of the article, where the blurb about the author is there)

instead of her profile, it showed up the profile/pop-up data of @lanny25
which (without verifying) absentmindedly I clicked the 'follow' on.

So kindly do have a check (if I reach out again to my 🧠therapy🧠 doctors😔, or I am still reasonably okay).

So early for the next life
Already I think @getready/@limbo/@original/@ishandon or others from Bengaluru or around
used BSNL 4G a couple of years back.. with speeds comparable to present day 4G speeds on some Jio/ AVOID networks.

Likewise for us when we travelled to rural placed in parts of Maharashtra or Madhya Pradesh where BSNL migrated fro. 2G to directly 4G.

If government cancels existing contracts, tenders and stops further tendering from vendors like Huawei, ZTE.. then what can companies do?

BSNL had been made to suffer under its management and geopolitical events, government policies.
Else their pan India rollout would have finished pre pandemic or at-least in the year of the lockdowns.. if Covid-19 had not hit.

Hi @medusa thanks a lot for your detailed comments, and feedback (and for following). I truly appreciate it 🍀✨

As for knowing the exact publishing date of an article or any thread, here's a simple hack:

1. In your web browser, visit the page/article you wish to know the publishing date of

2. Right-click and select "view pagesource"

3. You will be presented with an HTML code of the page

4. Press Ctrl + F to open a search window and type the word "Published"

5. You will find the exact publishing date and time of the particular thread or article.

I know this isn't the most ideal solution. But I hope it helps meanwhile. =)
